Many clever plays on words in so many of her songs. "Experience is cheap" is the opposite of the old saw that "talk is cheap." In the final chorus, she's referring to how you can't catch some diseases once you've had them.

Overall, this a lovely song about not being cynical, and about feeling lucky for what you've had. I think a lot of Mann's songs are about accepting that she isn't going to be very famous anymore (after her one big Till Tuesday hit).

I was on MTV, Dawson's Creek, etc. Look at me now, loading in my own gear and waiting on the fucking drummer. All in all, not too damn bad.
