Sissy's Song Lyrics

Artist: Alan Jackson
Album: Good Time

Why did she have to go
So young I just don't know why
Things happen half the time
Without reason without rhyme
Lovely, sweet young woman
Daughter, wife and mother
Makes no sense to me
I just have to believe

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me

Loved ones she left behind
Just trying to survive
And understand the why
Feeling so lost inside
Anger shot straight at God
Then asking for His love
Empty with disbelief
Just hoping that maybe

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me

It's hard to say goodbye
Her picture in my mind
They'll always be of times I'll cherish
And I won't cry 'cause

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me
Don't worry 'bout me

Love this song. I had a niece that died and she was an only child. I hurt for my sister everyday. It has really been hard for her. She heard this song and fell in love with it.

My niece. 32 yrs old and the mother of 3 little boys was killed in a car wreck on March 15th 2009. My nephew,(her brother) had the Good Time CD and had them to play this song at her funeral which was on March 19th. I thought that I had never heard this song on the radio before, but then thought well maybe I had but just wasn't really paying attention. Today I went to look up the lyrics and I went to the AllanJackson web site and found out that the song debuted on CMT on guess what date? March 19th, strange huh? It's almost like he wrote it for my niece also.

My daughter's nickname is Sissy. She lost her first daughter on April 19, 2008. She was stillborn. My daughter loves this song. She dedicates it to her daughter, Shawnna Lynn. I know deep down in my heart that Shawnna Lynn is in heaven with God and the angels. God Bless everyone.

I met a girl while I was incarcerated who had recently lost her mom. This song was played at the funeral, and it has helped her deal with the loss since. It is THE BEST song ever done by Alan!

Man these are such sad stories. Joyce I am so sorry about your daughter, that is a decisions that you will never understand. Heather, I cant even imagine having to leave my children, I am so sorry that these are the cards that you were dealt. Bill and Dawn my heart goes out to you, having your child die in your arms, so unfair. I am so sorry to the others also, such sad stories. I just lost my young grandmother a week ago and I feel torn apart. But after reading these stories it gives me strength and makes me realize, that you have all made it through, yet you have buried children. Thanks for sharing your stories. Sorry for your loss.
