Sunshine Lyrics
Artist: Alice In Chains
Album: Facelift
One, a-one time, yeah
Am I too contagious
Full of sick desire
Am I that I promise
Burning corpsed pyre
Then some dude came down to touch the Mother
Mother touched, and dude ain't here no more
Suck your woman down
Am I your reflection
Melting mirror smile
Am I worth the value
Do my love defile
Then some dude came down to touch the Mother
Mother touched and dude ain't here no more
Ain't no day the sun don't crack
Then to brand some name across my back so you care?
Find someone to tell you
Sunshine...sweet love my labor
Don't mind...I don't care no more
Memory, set me free, yeah
I don't care no more
Mother please, come for me
Can you face the question?
Is my soul entire?
Sunshine...sweet love my labor }
Don't mind...I don't care no more } (2x)

Comments/Interpretations
When I bought the facelift album. This was my favorite song on it. Besides the end of Love,Hate,Love.
but what does this song mean does anyone know???? i dont understand it at all
Legendary
GRANDE ALICE IN CHAINS
I LOVE THIS GROUP IS THE BEST OF 90īs
the song means what ever you want it to. those are the words from Layne Staley himself. Alice In Chains themselves say their meanings for their songs change all the time.
RE: what does it mean? What I get is Layne singing about the ending of, or hard times of, a romantic relationship. Sunshine in the song symbolizing his girl and Mother symbolizing heroin. A lot of AIC's songs have heroin themes.
im pretty sure this song was written by cantrell but not sure, i know he had a dog named sunshine, obviously theres some reference to someones mother but i guess yeah it means whatever you want it to,
rip layne
Cantrell wrote the majority of the aic lyrics and music. Layne actually only wrote three songs including music and lyrics by himself.
jerry wrote it for his mother, she died.
CHAINzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I think its about jerry not knowing his father "some dude came down to touch the mother" and the sunshine part is about his mom trying to comfort him, but he just doesn't care anymore.
Ning your wrong layne wrote about 50% of all aic songs
Elad jerry knows his father very well. "rooster" was written about his fathers experience in Vietnam. And they both live together on jerry's ranch in OK. I think this song is about heroin. And possibly the end of a relationship because of addiction. But that's just my speculation.
This song is about Jerrys deceased mother. Sunshine was also the name of his three-legged dog that was on their third album cover.
