You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby Lyrics

Artist: Bing Crosby
Album: You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby

You must have been a beautiful baby
You must have been a wonderful child
When you were only starting to go to kindergarten
I bet you drove the little boys wild.
And when it came to winning blue ribboms
You must have shown the other kids how.
I can see the judges' eyes as they handed you the prize
You must have made the cutest bow.
You must've been a beautiful baby
'Cause baby look at you now.

Does your mother realize
The stork delivered quite a prize
The day he left you on the family tree?
Does your dad appreciate
That you're merely supergreat
The miracle of any century?
If they don't just send them both to me.

You must have been a beautiful baby
You must have been a wonderful child.

Aishah is from another planet!
by Barbara on 7/6/2008 8:13pm
She isn't from another planet--she's from another social realm that does not appreciate a simple, meaningful, positive message. The song is from an era in which "sweetness" was valued.

Aishah hasa been trained by feminists to dislike displays of natural, sweet affection for feminine beauty....

On the other hand, IF she's like most young ladies today, she's also been trained by mass media to just love 'dem phat rappas who be callin' dem bit$#@! and hos.

She's soooooo confused. 0:

Aishah youre an idiot...yep thats all i got
by Ashley on 8/3/2008 2:07pm
And people like Aishah continually prove to me that the world today is just a dented and tarnished version of the nice and civilized one that we all knew and loved.

maybe she just doesnt like the song? it happens.

My great-uncle sings this to me when I visit him in the hospital. It makes me have a bittersweet smile on my face everytime I hear it. My great uncle is 82, a WWII vet, and immigrated from Germany with his siblingsin the 1930's. I am planning to get "beautiful baby" tattoed in German on me when he passes away.
Ich liebe dich, Onheim Bob!
Thank you, Bing Crosby for a sweet, simple song such as this.

As we gathered around Mother's hospice bed ,my Dad sang this sweet song to my Mother . It made her smile . I heard him sing the song and witnessed the beauty of their love and their last kiss good bye . During their 60 years of marriage they often sang this song . The memories of my mother singing this song give me comfort although it is so hard, now that my mother is gone . I am blessed that my mother taught me to appreciate the values she taught me . Thanks Bing for the song that made my mother smile right to the end . It still warms my heart .

My mother sang this to us, our children and many oters she loved. At her senior living home she was well known for this song and everyone soon began to sing it. As a tribute to her we will sing it at her memorial service this Friday. Thanks you - Bing - for many happy memories.

Aimee, that's an awesome memory to have. This song is simple, yet beautiful.

Some people can't grasp, or appreciate it.

In 3rd grade, we sung this song for the Winter Concert. I'm in 4th grade now, and I still remember the song. I love it.

Don't hate on Aishah. She's just getting the attention she may want, or she just dislikes this kind of music.
by Steve on 5/3/2011 12:32am
I agree with Tess--out of the mouth of babes (beautiful ones) jesus speaks his wisdom!
by Chris on 5/9/2011 5:10pm
Hey Tess, you may want to consider getting into politics, I am 31, and you are decades wiser than your age betrays.

Obviously the negative statements are being made by I person who has no knowledge of music. Even the younger bands of today recognize those that have come before them. They study and will listen to a lot of different music and artists. You can only progress when you know what you are progressing from.

Wow! I am so immpressed that the words of the song I have chosen to go in the front of my darling grandaughters '16th' birthday photo album are so much loved by young and old. I loved Bing too - felt so sad when he died, but oh boy! what a legacy he has left. Keep singing our song folks! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Rachel when it comes! Not long now, love Pol xx

I'm sending the lyrics to the most special woman in my life. I'm also sending all the comments, bitter and sweet. Aishah's sentiment is part of the whole. That's life. I'm glad I stumbled on this page. Tomoko, you must have been a beautiful baby, 'cause baby look at you now. Thanks, Bing!

I remember this song my dance teacher had me to sing it when I was seven for a dance recital.
i remember I would sing apart of the song, then tap dance and finish the song. A wonderful song sang by a great voice.

by Bob on 10/3/2012 11:51pm
There was a time in our history when someone could sing a song without trying to puke their tonsils out and, one could actually understand the words. I too am giving the lyrics to that very special person in my life. The way she treats me, she must have been a beautiful baby. She still is.

this song was written about the movie actress Baby Peggy. if you can catch her movies on TCM, it's worth it.
