Catch The Wind Lyrics
Artist: Donovan
Catch The Wind (Version II)
Donovan
In the chilly hours and minutes
Of uncertainty
I want to be
In the warm hold of your lovin' mind.
To feel you all around me
And to take your hand
Along the sand,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.
When sundown pales the sky
I want to hide a while
Behind your smile,
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find.
For me to love you now
Would be the sweetest thing,
'T would make me sing,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.
Diddy di dee dee diddy diddy,
Diddy diddy diddy dee dee dee.
When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near to kill my fears,
To help me to leave all my blues behind.
For standin' in your heart
Is where I want to be
And long to be,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.
----
CATCH THE WIND
Donovan
In the chilly hours and minutes of uncertainty
I long to be in the warm hold of your mind
To feel you all around me and to take your hand across the sand
Ah but I may as well try and catch the wind
When sundown pales the sky I want to hide a while behind your smile
And everywhere I'd look your eyes I'd find
For me to love you now would be the sweetest thing, 'twould make me sing
Ah but I might as well try and catch the wind
Dee dee dee dee etc
When rain has covered leaves with tears
I want you near to kill my fears
To help me leave all my blues behind
While standing in your heart is where I wanna be and long to be
Ah but I might as well try and catch the wind
Ah but I may as well try and catch the wind

Wondeful and evocative song
absolutely beautiful.
I must agree. I've enjoyed his music for fourty years. It still holds its' meaning. A true musical magician.
Absolutely beautiful!
How music can regenerate after so many years. Such beautiful song with so much meaning. Sometimes love is like trying to catch the wind.
Used lyrics to describe what it was like to be an agnostic wanting to believe but Ah...
The sweetest song!
That is how to write a song!!
Thanks
one of the best songs ever written!
wish i knew where i could still get a copy of this beautiful song.
Wish I'd written this. It is incomparable. Nothing but respect and admiration for Donovan, who made a beautiful, gripping poem into a popular song, like no other, before or since.
A great song, thanks dovan

6/9/2010 GREAT SONG
Loved it then and still love it now
it is the story of my life and a lost love
This song is beautiful. About a lost love. I met Donovan once,,lovely man. Peace and Love.
It is one of those oh so rare songs that can make the hair on your neck prickle. It works lyrically and musically for me, timeless .....
this is my life at present a love that can never be so so sad
Listened to this beautiful ballad as a child. I still love it to this day altough the poignant lyrics make sense at my age now. One of my favorite songs ever.
This song is beautifully bittersweet. Has made me misty-eyed and also warmed my heart. Thank you donovan. Peace
A brilliant song that has just got better with time, we met in 1986 but lost each other only to meet up again in 2009 & we now look forward to our second wedding aniversary, we had this beautiful tune played at our wedding.
that song is really good
I found this song the other day, and it made me nearly cry. The words are so simple yet powerful. I am not one to listen to 60's music usually, but this song is gorgeous. It's about true love, i think. True, unconditional, permanent, honest love. Sadly it is unrequited. I know the feeling. Wind would truly be easier to catch. Im in love with this song!!
I still have Donovan on vinyl. Tonight he has been on "Deep Tracks"
xm radio in honor of the HOF induction. This song reminds me of my late husband. We lived and traveled in a blue school bus during those days.I will always miss him and the song he used to sing to me.
The interpretation of any art form likely differs from person to person. For me this songs speaks not so much of unrequited love, but of unrealized, impossibly sad love; as in when two lovers cannot be together because they are already married to others and cannot bring themselves to devastate the lives of their respective families or overcome their own consciences and traditional moral beliefs to just let go and be together.
Cały Donovan, cały on ....
Sweet.
Cały Donovan, cały on ....

At times of uncertainty you must be hard and stop feeling sorry for yourself. It's ok when you are maudlin in whisky though!
Just heard this for the first time. In complete love with it!!!
The single greatest love song ever written. period.
I love this song!
one of the best ever
The love I never could express or was afraid to express. Its now more than thirty years since I first heard it and I still feel the same unresolved pain.Who or what killed the love that wells up within me?
My fiancé and I are dancing to this at our wedding! It's our song.
Tough times. Great song God bless all!
Sums up my feelings for Jane C in Shotley Suffolk.
All the hours and minutes are uncertainty, thanks Heisenberg
When an old boyfriend left me when I was 19, this was my theme song. 40 years later, we reconnected. It's as if we never skipped a beat. But we're both attached. This song explains my pain of what can never be......

Way To Go Donovan!
At 17 I loved this song...the lyric resonated as unrequited love—
Today at 67 , i woke with this song in my mind
I reached for my guitar ...
The lyrics flowed,,, the chords, strumming and picking like when I played it when was 17,,,,
But now, the lyric really resonated ,, having lost my husband last year .....
To feel you all around me....... but ah, i maybas well try to catch the wind.
I do beleive I had a visitation this morning
