Stone The Crow Lyrics

Artist: Down
Album: Nola

A bout of deep depression.
Can't seem to move it forward.
My lying eyes lie awake.
Not sure what I am after.
I never died before.
Can't live what happened yesterday.
I never stoned the crow, no.
Flip through endless stories.
A life of hand-written pain.
No one can share this hurt that is mine, mine, mine.
I never died before.
Can't be what happened yesterday.
I shouldn't stone the crow, no.
Ride on!
Same old city, same old pain.
No matter how I try,
No matter what I say,
I'm blamed, I'm shamed,
I'm judged unfairly.
So now I've died before.
It feels as bad as yesterday.
I never stoned the crow, no.
You too have died before.
It's more than less of yesterday.
I never stoned the crow, stoned the crow, no, no.

by D3ATH W1SH on 12/10/2008 9:10pm
Its alot different from Pantera, or Damageplan, however it has its own distinctive qualities that make it just as good. I think Phil sounds as good here as he did on Vulgar or CFH, However i think Dime is a better guitarist than Pepper Keenan, but they each have their own unique styles which makes it hard to choose one thats better. Overall, its still an incredible song and an amazing album that i would put up there with Vulgar, and New Found Power. R.I.P. Darrell Lance Abbott.
by bromosexual on 12/29/2008 9:14am
honestly, why is it always being compared to pantera, what about crowbar or coc, like ahaha, its none of those bands but all of them, its a Small peice of ingredients that made that band, so when you take ingredients from a sick band lik epantera, Coc, crowbar, your gunan get this, Pure gold. and i fuckign ahte phil, and i still say its fucking gold.

stone the crow there means something like an incident or a fact that hapened but I´d like to know what is it!? someone?!?!? i know he´s shamed blamed and judged by everything he does or did but since he´s talking about an especifically case i don´t have an idea what that can be.
by Some Guy on 3/20/2009 10:24pm
I dunno if this is right but I'm pretty sure this is close to what 'stone the crow' means.
An outlandish event(by perspective.)
"Ol Rock said 'fuck off' to his boss and up and quit... can't say I'd ever stone that crow."
by Grimm Reefer on 3/25/2009 6:31pm

This album came out like a year or so before Trendkill and I remember getting high with a friend of mine telling him it was the new Pantera. He was like, "man they really slowed down but its still cool" lol

DOWN is probably the best metal band around these days. They had a concert near where I live, which is a small place (no more than 800 ppl I assume) and they gave it all! all the best songs and 4 encores! AMAZING!
Best show ever!

Fools, no matter the root, it is the metaphors' philosophical signifigance. Raw regret for deeds not done on any level seems the depths the lyrics go to. Between the lines, fucks. Anger takes brains
by Jonboy on 11/26/2009 8:18am
Your wrong as well, its I fought as hard as yesterday.

Crows are sometimes believed to be harbingers of doom or avatars of the dead. Stoning a crow would bring bad luck. It is a superstition.
by fafaou on 9/8/2010 7:27pm
it's about the pain he suffer from an accident the time 'bout pantera years, back pain from fallin, and it's constant.the back is scrapped and he put in a song from his stoned-age....
by klark on 2/17/2011 2:26pm
i think stone the crow is a bastardized version of shooting the albatross from Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Coleridge. This is a famous English poem of the 1800's and killing the albatross meant that you did a very very bad thing during a time of good fortune, in other words, a really meaningless evil thing because it was not done under duress. JMHO
by F-I-X on 5/8/2011 4:42pm

Stone the crows, refers to a long time ago when people, some got paid, to throw rocks at swarms of crows to scare them away.
