Hold On Tight Lyrics
Artist: Electric Light Orchestra
Hold on tight to your dream
Hold on tight to your dream
When you see your ship go sailing
When you feel your heart is breaking
Hold tight to your dream.
It's a long time to be gone
Time just rolls on and on
When you need a shoulder to cry on
When you get so sick of trying
Just hold tight to your dream
[CHORUS:]
When you get so down that you can't get up
And you want so much but you're all out of luck
When you're so downhearted and misunderstood
Just over & over & over you could
Accroches-toi a ton reve
Accroches-toi a ton reve
Quand tu vois ton bateau partir
Quand tu sents -- ton coeur se briser
Accroches-toi a ton reve.
[REPEAT CHORUS]
Hold on tight to your dream
Hold on tight to your dream
When you see the shadows falling
When you hear that cold wind calling
Hold on tight to your dream.
Oh, yeah
Hold on tight to your dream
Yeah, hold on tight...
To your dream.

Comments/Interpretations
I think this song that I have rediscovered by ELO is sensational. I can't wait to play it to my tutor group when we are back in school in September
I gasped when I heard it on the radio... I thought there was a Jerry Lee Lewis song I never had heard before... until I heard the french words... i am pretty sure Killer never recorded anything in that language... great ditty!!!
This song is just pure happiness. I was 14 when this was made and have loved it ever since. This is the first time , however, I have sung along with the French lyrics as they actually sung - as opposed to the gallic mimicry I usually come up with.
And, Jorgen, if Jerry Lee ever sung French it would have been strictly creole.
Somehow I never heard this song when it first came out. I think it is sensational.
This is a nice song, i think the modern society needs these kind of music style back.
This is a good song in all, but the absolute best part is the chorus. When I heard it, I'm like: "WOW!!!".
It's so catchy and the melody is pure AWESOMENESS!!! I'll never forget it even if I try (which I never would). It will be with me forever.
So what does the chorus mean in English?
PGelsman- the French lyrics are the same as the first verse.
To all who wrote their comments - You got it right. This type of music should never go away.
