That last stanza would seem very odd/cryptic if you take it out of context :p

In fact, this sing comes from the album "Time", which tells the story of a man from 1981 who is teleported to the year 2095 by people from the future who want to show him the dangers of their time, and how they can be avoided by righting wrongs in the past (his time). In that last verse he tells of how the people who brought them to their time think that he sent himself back to 1981, when in fact he remained in 2095.

I think the last verse meant that, with the passage of time, he meant to escape his memories ...but somehow got stuck there...drifting on the lonely sea of his own past. and no matter what he does, he can't escape. but maybe he likes it better than the present and doesn't want to leave the ghosts of the past.
