Everything's Ruined Lyrics
Artist: Faith No More
Album: Angel Dust
Things worked out better than we had planned
Capital from boy, woman and man
We were like ink and paper
Numbers on a calculator
Knew arithmetic so well
Working overtime completed what was assigned
We had to multiply ourselves
A bouncing little baby
A shiny copper penny
And he spent himself
Would not listen to us
But when he lost his appetite
He lost his weight in friends
Baby became a fat nickel so fast
Then came puberty
Exponentially
Soon our boy became a million
People loved him so
And helped him to grow
Everyone knew the thing that was best
Of course, he must invest
A penny won't do
But he made us proud
He made us rich
But how were we to know
He's counterfeit
Now everything's ruined

Comments/Interpretations
Well the meaning is obvious...
I agree with the above comment.. unless i'm at top now... in that case i agree with the below comment.
What is the meaning ?
Well, those are some pretty sarcastic answers. Maybe you haven't understood the meaning of the song afterall.
Its about the Federal Reserve! Hehe J/K ;)
Intento cantarla pero esshh imposhiible jajajja, canta re bien Patton.
When Stalin ruled russia.
like anyone can understand, patton has told everyone already that most of his songs are filled with words for the feel and sound of them, the connotations and denotations are secondary.
What a beautiful thing! Only Faith No More GLORIOUS song about everything being ruined.
This is an amazing song with amazing lyrics. If you don't get how the lyrics perfectly crystalize a family's dissapointment in someone gone wrong you're missing the great metaphor there. I could probably recite the words to this song from memory but I googled this page so I could read them again. Mike Patton is a genius.
Word up! Mike is a genius!
I always thought this was about the guys going against the whole Epic thing, going against theis success. Well, it's all interpretation, I guess.
I first heard this song yeas gone by. i saw the video and was completely shocked at how mesmerizing it was and still is. The video is bizarre, cheesy, tacky, and the most brilliant thing i had ever seen. its like cocaine for my eyes, till this day i am shocked at how amazing this song is. I could listen to this song for the rest of my life and i would never get tired of it. If you don't like "everything's ruined" by Faith No More, I don't trust you.
Hooray to see the love for this incredible song. I think it's one of the most amazing tracks of the last 20 years!
I wish it had more verse parts like the first two lines
"
Things-worked out / bet-ter than / we had planned...
Cap-i-tal / from boy, wo-man and man"
That part is like orgasmic to me. I'll replay the song several times just to hear that bit. haha
I do the same thing with King for a Day.
Amazing song.
Una de las mejores canciones del mundo!!!
IMHO it's arguably the best track on Angel Dust, and trust me, I argue with myself about it every time I listen to the album. Half of my brain is screaming Crack Hitler and another half is screaming A Small Victory at me right now.
One of the best songs of the 90's, or probbably one of the best songs of all time. FNM!! NOW EVERYTHING'S IS RUINED!!
one of the best albums of all time...
It's about what we are to the government. I don't see how some people can miss it.
remember the government isnt one entity, its a big retarded octopus that doesnt know what all its tentacles are doing - the ppl that have influence over the most powerful tentacles are the ones this is about mayb
Amazing song.....Yeah!
Faith No More
I think it may be a sort of figurative biography about their successes as a band - the coins, perhaps symbolic of record sales, or perhaps something less concrete, like market popularity, or a hybrid, such as any of those *and* their actual work as musicians.
"Pretty simple" :) ?
The first time I heard my favorite line in this song (But when he lost his appetite, he lost his weight in friends), I thought he was singing 'He lost his weed and friends'. If you lose your friends AND your weed. Then surely Everything's Ruined.
It's about the economic collapse and decline in global influence the USA has experienced since the turn of the millenium. Somehow they saw it all coming in the early 90's
Mike is an under rated song writer for sure!
I'm seeing them tomorrow night, when they play this I will f'n lose it
Everybody claims the meaning is obvious yet people explain them differently... Accordez vos violons !
