Blue Monday Lyrics
Artist: Fats Domino
Album: Blue Monday
Blue Monday
Fats Domino and Fabian
Blue Monday how I hate Blue Monday
Got to work like a slave all day
Here come Tuesday, oh hard Tuesday
I'm so tired got no time to play
Here come Wednesday, I'm beat to my socks
My gal calls, got to tell her that I'm out
'Cause Thursday is a hard workin' day
And Friday I get my pay
Saturday mornin', oh Saturday mornin'
All my tiredness has gone away
Got my money and my honey
And I'm out on the stand to play
Sunday mornin' I'm feelin' bad
But it's worth it for the time that I had
But I've got to get my rest
'Cause Monday is a mess

Comments/Interpretations
"Out on the town to play"
"Sunday morning my head is bent
but it was worth the time that I
spent"
One of my favoites by Fat's, so I
believe these are good corrections
of the words. donnymote@aol.com
Regarding Donnymote's comments I agree that this is one of his best songs, along with So Long and, of course, Blueberry Hill. I tuned in to this page because I couldn't make out the word "socks" (probably due in part to the difference in accents (saaax/sohks). Agree only in part with the correction. Fats sings "Sunday morning my head is BAD" (rhymes with "had" at the end of the next line). Hope this helps. robin.kay@okay.co.uk
On "The Girl Can't Help It" Fats Domino's lyrics are:
Sunday Morning my head is bad,
but it was worth the time that I had.
Watch the movie with captions turned on...
On my recording its
"-Sunday morning my head is bad
-But its worth it for the times that i've had"
Yes, that is correct, just bought
a Fats CD, with original sound.
The words are "my head is bad, but
it was worth it for the time I had"...We play this song in my
"Last exit" band.
what can anybody say about the great fats domino,i remember him in the fifties lovrd him then and still do.i am reading his book at the moment called blue monday i just cant put it down.his music will live forever
Line 5 & 6 are:
"On Wednesday I keep to myself,
My Baby call, got to tell her that I'm ill,
never again, i wish i had a tenner every time i said that, brilliant song saya it all really
The line "Sunday morning my HEAD IS BAD". Meaning he has a hangover.
Got my money and my honey
And I'm out on the street to play
Sunday morning my head is bad
But it's worth it for the time that I had.
Just my two cents' worth.
I always thought I heard:
"And I'm out on the scene to play"
but not sure of the word "scene";
Smiley Lewis's prior recording does not sound at all like "scene" nor "street", but more like "town".
Blue Monday how I hate blue Monday
Got to work like a slave all day
Here come Tuesday oh hard Tuesday
I'm so tired, got no time to play
Here come Wednesday
I'm beat to my socks
My girl called, got to tell her that I'm out
Cos Thursday is a hard workin' day
And Friday I'll get my pay
Saturday mornin', oh Saturday mornin'
All my tiredness have gone away
Got my money and my honey
And I'm out on the stand to play
Sunday mornin' my head is bad
But it's worth it for the times that I've had
But I've got to get my rest
'Cause Monday is a mess
Saturday mornin', oh Saturday mornin'
All my tiredness have gone away
Got my money and my honey
And I'm out on the stand to play
Sunday mornin' my head is bad
But it's worth it for the times that I've had
But I've got to get my rest
'Cause Monday is a mess
Sunday morning my head is BAD.
For those of you who don't understand, that means he is hung over.
I think the lyric is "Sunday mornin' my head is bared (or, perhaps, bowed) for I worship for the times that I've had. But I've got to get my rest, 'cause Monday's next.
The lyric is Sunday my had is BAD
Meaning he had a hangover.
