Crackerbox Palace Lyrics
Artist: George Harrison
I was so young when I was born
My eyes could not yet see
And by the time of my first dawn
Somebody holding me . . . they said
I welcome you to Crackerbox Palace
We've been expecting you
You bring such joy in Crackerbox Palace
No matter where you roam know our love is true
While growing up or trying to
Not knowing where to start
I looked around for someone who
May help reveal my heart - someone said
While you're a part of Cracerbox Palace
Do what the rest all do
Or face the fact that Crackerbox Palace
May have no other choice than to deport you
I welcome you to Crackerbox Palace
We've been expecting you
You bring us joy in Crackerbox Palace
No matter where you roam know our love is true
Sometimes are good . . . sometimes are bad
That's all a part of life
And standing in between them all
I met a Mr. Grief - and he said
I welcome you to Crackerbox Palace
Was not expecting you
Let's rap and tap at Crackerbox Palace
Know that the Lord is well and inside of you
(Chorus)

Comments/Interpretations
In this lyric there is a misspelling. "Mr. Grief" should be "Mr. Greif."
This song is about the home of the late comic Lord Buckley
The song's title does come from the home of "Lord Buckley", but the lyrics hardly seem to be about that.
I agree with James (on 8/20/09) and I have to say doug..." i before e except after c "
One of the great early music videos, appeared on SNL in 1976
The song is indeed about Lord (Richard) Buckley. See last verse. Mr. Greif was Buckley's manager for awhile.
Doug Saum
This song was dedicated to my mom Marzia Greif, i have the original cassette tape that george made while my dad was at his house, he said to George that" your house looks like a crackerbox palace", and yes GH loved Lord Buckley and my father!! They met when the Beatles first came to America, then bumped into each other at a party and george H. invited him to his house.thats when he created this song..
GREAT STORY DIANE.. THANK YOU, I LOVE THIS SONG..
"Lord" to Harrison probably meant lord Krishna
