In the Mood
Glenn Miller (#1 in 1940)
- words by Andy Razaf, music by Joe Garland
- charted by Glenn Miller at #1 in 1940 and again at #20 in 1943
- also charted at #16 by Johnny Maddox in 1953
- as recorded by The Andrews Sisters
Who's the lovin' daddy with the beautiful eyes
What a pair o' lips, I'd like to try 'em for size
I'll just tell him, "Baby, won't you swing it with me"
Hope he tells me maybe, what a wing it will be
So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude"
He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood"
First I held him lightly and we started to dance
Then I held him tightly what a dreamy romance
And I said "Hey, baby, it's a quarter to three
There's a mess of moonlight, won't-cha share it with me"
"Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude
To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood"
In the mood, that's what he told me
In the mood, and when he told me
In the mood, my heart was skippin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"
In the mood for all his kissin'
In the mood his crazy lovin'
In the mood what I was missin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"
So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude"
He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood"
"Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude
To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood"
Who's the lovin' daddy with the beautiful eyes
What a pair o' lips, I'd like to try 'em for size
I'll just tell him, "Baby, won't you swing it with me"
Hope he tells me maybe, what a wing it will be
So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude"
He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood"
First I held him lightly and we started to dance
Then I held him tightly what a dreamy romance
And I said "Hey, baby, it's a quarter to three
It's a mess of moonlight, won't-cha share it with me"
"Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude
To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood"

thanks i can do my homework now
How funny! I was looking for the lyrics for the same reason! (trouble focusing on homework)
I was just sitting here in only my robe and this song came to mind.
Randomly a couple notes came to mind and luckily I remembered the name of the song. Awesome song for dancing.
this song is so cool i am lering it in sax
So we totally played this song in jazz band, and I definitely didn't realize that there were lyrics to it... Even though I probably should've. Now I can sing words to it instead of just, "Bah bah dee, mm doo dah, bee da doo, mm boo daaahhh!!!!"
only if the sax notes were there.
Nice lyrics! Glenn pwns!
I sang this song in my Jazz Choir class back in 1991, I have not been able to find the Lyrics since. Thank You!

MMr whatcha callit whatcha doin tonight,Hope your in the mood because I'm feelin allright. This begins original lyric.
My choir is doing this song and it is soooooooo much fun to sing
Yeah, Old Bob! My mom, who is 85, sings it this way.."Mr. Whatcha Callit whatcha doin' tonight, Hope you're in the mood because I'm feelin' just right,
How's about a corner with a table for two,
Where the music's mellow in some gay rendevouz,
There's no chance romancin' with a blue attitude,
Ya gotta do some dancin' to get in the mood."
Where did she get these lyrics--I can't find them anywhere!? Are these the original lyrics, as Bob suggests?
i love this song but its kinda a bit iw romantic i hate romantic and i will sing i t in school and the first verse is not lips its shoes

When I was in high school my Grandpa gave us girls his old 78's. We were listening to the Andrews Sisters and other famous artists from the era when everyone else was listening to the Beatles etc.!
This is my favorite song! Thank you so much!
YES MY HOMEWORK ACCPLISHED HAHA
I'm glad "Old Bob" remembered it the way I do. "by Old Bob on 5/2/2009 9:36pm--Mr whatcha callit whatcha doin tonight,Hope your in the mood because I'm feelin allright. This begins original lyric." I was a freshman in High School when I first heard this song, and I listened to it again this morning when I walked my dog. Great music!
It is good I am dancing to it at school
cool,outstanding,and amazing
I liked the Andrews Sisters version but Brian Setzer did it better.
hhhmmmm i wonder....
i have to learn this song for a jazz concert im doing its my very 1st solo concert ever wish me luck!
A few people have mentioned a different set of lyrics for the song (which were also the ones I was actually looking for when I came here, the lyrcs that begin with 'mister whatchacallum'.) It seems the other lyrics people are remembering are the Andrew Sisters' version of the song. Perhaps these lyrics are the original lyrics?
WHO was the lady vocalist (name) on the glen millar recording of in the mood????
recordação imortal da minha juventude e dos amores que eu lá tive
The lyrics that Old Bob mentioned are from the Andrews Sisters version. I think that these are the origional lyrics.
I hate this song I don't know why I even looked it up. This site is really bad so now ima go to a different better site
i dont understand Andrew sisters have different lyics to this song starting with
"Mr Whatchacallim what ya doing tonight;
hope youre in the mood because im feeling just right"
? listen to it!!
confused
I heard the lyrics when this song first came out, and they were what old Bob said.
MR, WHATCHACALLIT WHATCHA DOING TONIGHT.
