Beautifuel Lyrics
Artist: Gordon Lightfoot
Album: Don Quixote
At times I just don't know
How you could be anything but beautiful
I think that I was made for you
And you were made for me
And I know that I will never change
Cause we've been friends through rain or shine
For such a long, long time
Laughing eyes and smiling face
It's seems so lucky just to have the right
Of telling you with all my might
You're beautiful tonight
And I know that you will never stray
Cause ya been that way from day to day
For such a long, long time
And when ya hold me tight
How could life be anything but beautiful
I think that I was made for you
And you were made for me
And I know that I will never change
Cause we've been friends through rain or shine
For such a long, long time
And I must say that it means so much to me
Just to be the one who's telling you
I'm telling you
That you're beautiful

Comments/Interpretations
Probably, the two most talented songwriters in the 20th Century would arguably be defined as Gordon Lightfoot...I know every one has there favorites..but no one but Gordo could have written a song so completely perfect as "Beautiful"..The other in my opinion is Roger Miller..Rogers gift was more the words and phrasing that was always nearly perfect..Both Waylon Jennings and John Cash when asked the one song that they wished they had written..Is my personal favorite..by Roger.."Husbands and Wives"..is the most honest and perfect song I have ever heard..And because both Gordo and Roger knew that with these two songs ..you had to put the minor chord lead for melancholic effect..and it worked perfectly for both songs..although both were the direct opposite of each other...and most people have never heard either of these classics..,what a shame.
