No Milk Today Lyrics

Artist: Herman's Hermits

No Milk Today
Herman's Hermitts

No milk today my love is gone away
The bottle stands forlon a symbol of the dawn
No milk today it seems a common sight
But people passing by don't know the reason why

How could they know just what this message means
The end of all my hopes the end of all my dreams
How could they know a palace there had been
Behind the door where my love reigned as queen
No milk today it wasn't always so
The company was gay we turn'd night into day

But all that's left is a place dark and lonely
A terraced house in a mean street back of town
Becomes a shrine when I think of you only
Just two up to down

No milk today it wasn't always so
The company was gay we turn'd night into day
As music played the faster did we dance
We felt it both at once the start of our romance

How could they know just what this message means
The end of all my hopes the end of all my dreams
How could they know a palace there had been
Behind the door where my love reigned as queen
No milk today my love is gone away
The bottle stands forlon a symbol of the dawn

But all that's left is a place dark and lonely
A terraced house in a mean street back of town
Becomes a shrine when I think of you only
Just two up to down

No milk today my love is gone away
The bottle stands forlon a symbol of the dawn
No milk today it seems a common sight
But people passing by don't know the reason why

How could they know just what this message means
The end of all my hopes the end of all my dreams
How could they know a palace there had been
Behind the door where my love reigned as queen
No milk today it wasn't always so
The company was gay we turn'd night into day

But all that's left is a place dark and lonely
A terraced house in a mean street back of town
But all that's left is a place dark and lonely
A terraced house in a mean street back of town

I believe he is singing of a former loved one who has left, so there will be no delivery of milk to the place where they just to have fun. She is the love who reigned as queen.
by Blue Berrie on 10/16/2008 9:24am
i agree with finn altho i actually think the guy who sings was the milkman...and his love, the owner of the house...but she moved away
by Fiona on 2/7/2009 7:42pm
Well Blue Berrie, if the woman had moved away and he was the milkman, then there would be no bottle standing forlorn, as she wouldn't be there to leave it.

very cool song !!

I think the bottle stands 'forlon' should be 'forlorn'. (Blame the British accent)

Hermins Hermits were cooler than their name leads one to believe. Much better than The Rolling Stones as far as the British Invasion goes. As far as "the company was GAY"...well that's Mick Jagger to a "T"

Corrections:
forlorn
the end of my hopes
two up two down

This song is awesome. It's about a split up love affair mostly.

Thank you Rick for the corrections... I was wondering what "two up to down" was supposed to mean. It makes much more sense "two up, two down". I love all of the Herman's Hermits' songs!!

p.s. Hey kill, you spelled the group's name wrong and don't be so rude!

Herman a.k.a. Peter Noone is my favorite! I love his voice. He is sooo cute on their videos when they were young. I wish I could find a guy like him to marry! :)

Love all their songs!! Im 11 and only love 80's/60's songs. New music is crap. Seriously.

someoneish.....you are very wise for someone-ish so young! I agree and I am so happy to see so many people who love this song as much as I do!
