Wolf Lyrics
Artist: Iced Earth
Album: Horror Show
Innocence tainted by pure lunacy
Cursed by the slash of a shape-shifting beast
Oh no, this can't be
Demonic infection, a doomed changeling
His future concealed as he begs to be told
A kiss from the gypsy, he'll never grow old
Oh no, this can't be
Demonic infection, a doomed changeling
(Chorus)
Even a man who's pure
And says his prayers by night
(He won't hear your prayers)
Man become a wolf
When the wolf bane blooms,
And the autumn moon is bright
(There's a full moon tonight)
Man may become a wolf.
He who is bitten by a wolf and lives
Possession soon follows, no use to resist
Oh no, this can't be
Cursed by the moonlight, a doomed changeling
The madness a turmoil that swells up inside
To truly find peace is to truly die
Oh no, this can't be
Cursed by the moonlight, a doomed changeling
Now comes the rampage, a killing spree
Hunting his loved ones comes instinctively
Oh no, it's maddening
A shape-shifting demon of pure lunacy
A shot from the darkness tears through its flesh
A bullet of silver lays it to rest
Oh no, it's maddening
An innocent victim finds his peace.

Comments/Interpretations
I listen to this song almost every morning, it's so freaking awesome.
First time reading the lyrics and hearing the song..It's pretty damn cool!
I believe this song is about how man is basically evil and that there is little hope when one tries to resist that evil.
About man? Basically evil? xD
It's just about how awsome the WEREWOLF is..
**wags his tail**
@ Jinx black: some of iced earth's lyrics are very deep... this one isn't!
like crozzy said, it's just about the sheer awesomeness of werewolves, but this song would rock no matter about what it was anyway
the song is about a man who was attacked by a wolf and when the autumn moon is high he transforms into a warewolf and hunts his family until someone kills him
its an amazing song and i love it!
Iced Earth Rock
u all Rock for liking it! woo!
This song is awesome! I freking love it!& Iced Earth.
omg another masterpiece by Iced Earth! Also Werewolves rulez, they own the damn emo vampyres! ^^
aguante iced
PURE AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!
the first time i heard it i was hooked!
Its about the movie "The Wolfman" (1944). The chorus is a direct quote from the movie. Nothing deeper than that.
Im using this for my project :)
I knew I recognized that quote from somewhere... WOLVES RULE!
now this song makes more sense and has more compability with my life
Iced Earth is so friggin awesome. This entire album "Horror Show" kicks ass. All the songs are based on old horrow legends or myth's. The song Wolf is no doubt a kick ass song but in my opinion not the best song off the album. Check out Phantom Opera Ghost, Damien, Dragon's Child, you know what,,, just buy the Horror Show Album and listen to it from beginning to end. It's amazing and so many people don't have any idea as to who Iced Earth is.

This song is like a combination of a couple of stories I have written/am writing. ^^ It's a great song (not just because of that).
Jinx is at least on the right track, but slightly off mark. Werewolves, at least in this case, are metaphors for madness. The song Jekyl and Hyde is about the evil in us, this song is about the horror of not being in control or our own selves. As with most of the songs on this album, Iced Earth does a great job keeping the metaphors and not just trying to make things sound cool (though their effort was apparently lost on most people O_o).
Excelent song, and it really captures the sheer ferocity and animalistic drive that the concept of the werewolf conveys. I also love the chorus to bits, especially because it manages to be extremely dramatic wihout becoming cheesy (a trap that many Power Metal bands fall into). In a nutshell; great song, from a great album,by a great band.
This song just like every other song on the album (except Ghost of Freedom and Transylvania which is a maiden cover) which is based on movies or horror stories/events
Wolf - The Wolf Man
Damien - The Omen
Jack - Jack The Ripper
Im-Ho-Tep (The Pharohs curse) - The Mummy
Jekyll and Hyde - The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll Mr Hyde
Dragon Child - Creature From The Black Lagoon
Frankenstein - Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Dracula - Bram Stokers Dracula
Phantom Opera Ghost - The Phantom Of The Opera
I love this song.
