Easter Parade Lyrics
Artist: Irving Berlin
Album: Cheek To Cheek: Irving Berlin Songbook
In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter Parade.
I'll be all in clover and when they look you over,
I'll be the proudest fellow in the Easter Parade.
On the avenue, Fifth Avenue, the photographers will snap us,
And you'll find that you're in the rotogravure.
Oh, I could write a sonnet about your Easter bonnet,
And of the girl I'm taking to the Easter Parade.

Comments/Interpretations
I remember this song and all the boys in my class will sing this tp all the girls in my class
Thank you for restoring my youth by posting these lyrics.
I'm getting some of the girls in my neighborhood involved with making Easter bonnets this week...I have plenty of Arts-n-Crafts (Straw hats, silk flowers, bows, and ribbons...to name a few of the items that I have). I guess it's my way of keeping the tradition alive along with the old fashion song.
I am guessing 11 out of 10 people under the age of 30 will have no clue what the rotogravure was. Maybe it's time to rewrite the song for the modern idiom, in which case the line will go something like "with all your lovely dressage, you soon be a text message"
Thank you for the lyrics. I remember my Mom singing it in her kitchen. I couldn't remember all the words. My friend and I are attending an Easter Parade party and we plan to perform, sing and dance to the "Easter Parade".
In the movie Easter Parade
, Judy Garland precedes the song, Easter Parade with introductory lyrics. Could you possibly email them to me? at

There are more songs in the musical Easter Parade than just Easter Parade. I wanted lyrics to the song sung by Fred Astaire where he says Happy Easter to you. I love the musical with Judy Garland but to find lyrics to ALL the songs may be impossible.
Maybe it's time to enlarge our vocabularies and find what rotogravure is! In fact, some peope think it is sung 'photogravure', but it is rotogravure. Simply put, the second word is how newspapers are printed. A photogravure uses a copper plate to imprint words or pictures onto a plate. Rotogravure is not a difficult word to investigate.
As a little girl in Elemantary school back in the 60's, the teachers made us really pretty flowery bonnets and we performed on stage for the rest of the school and our parents, I'll never forget it.
