Ill walk in the rain by your side
Ill cling to the warmth of your hand
Ill do anything to keep you satisfied
Ill love you more than anybody can
And the wind will whisper your name to me
Little birds will sing along in time
Leaves will bow down when you walk by
And morning bells will chime
Ill be there when youre feelin down
To kiss away the fears if you cry
Ill share with you all the happiness Ive found
A reflection of the love in your eyes
And Ill sing you the songs of the rainbow
A whisper of the joy that is mine
And leaves will bow down when you walk by
And morning bells will chime
Ill walk in the rain by your side
Ill cling to the warmth of your tiny hand
Ill do anything to help you understand
And Ill love you more than anybody can
And the wind will whisper your name to me
Little birds will sing along in time
Leaves will bow down when you walk by
And morning bells will chime

I love this song very much...the lyrics are so romantic...it can strikes through the hearts who are in love...it describes what a comittment is...
One of my favourites. Being a father, I can appriciate the feeling in every line. Thanks to John Denver for expressing this unique bond so nicely
I love this song, I choose it to be sung for my wedding which was 33 years ago this coming weekend. I thought it was very appropriate and exactly how I felt about our love, commitment and our life together.
For Cameron
I am singing this song tomorrow at my granddaughter's chistening.
A song that make you smile and cry. It's written from the heart and soul.....beautiful, beautiful song!
I've been looking for a new song to sing to my niece, and this one is perfect! Also love: Michael Card, All You Are...and Rascal Flatts, My Wish.
I used to sing it in college and then it felt romantic. Now I attempt to sing it to my baby Grandaughter and start weeping by the second verse. It's such a beautiful song about bonding, love, attachment and protection.
But whom did John Denver write this song for? Does he have a child named Bobbie? I love this song so much, and I have always wondered that. Does anyone know?
I sing this song to my disabled daughter. I cry. And I'm a punk rocker.
I can sing this song from my heart. This is our theme song. Me, my wife Tisha and our twin daughters Amy and Ivy sing this together in the house and in the car during long trips.
John Denver wrote this song for a former girlfriend, named Bobbie, way back in 1965; before he became famous. Mary Travers (of Peter, Paul, & Mary) later recorded it on a solo album for her daughter. The lyrics are universal enough that it could be for your lover or your child. That is the uniqueness of it; simple, yet complex. A beautiful song, lyrics and melody.
my neice recently passed away from cystic fibrosis. She was only 25 years old.She was and always will be an angel. Her name was Melissa
my daughter katie was born to me late in life. I cherished every moment of her babyhood and growing up. This song expressess the realationship we had. I think Mary's version said it a little better for me: "I'll cling to the warmth of your tiny hand..."
Perfect song for my belove daughter.
My mother used to sing my sister and I to sleep with this song. I love it.
Yes, he wrote the song for old girlfriend named Bobbie. She was a short petite girl, hence the references to tiny hand
Might check the facts .... this song I believe was first recorded on a Chad Mitchell Trio album after John Denver replaced Chad ... Check it out.
I have sung this song to my daughter everynight at bedtime since she was 2 months old. Thanks John.
I was looking for a sign from my horse, Bob, who just passed away. We were very close companions. I was playing a John Denver CD in my car as I went to visit the barn where I first met Bob (Bonanzas Bobbie Sox)trying to feel his spirit. Without adjusting the CD, "For Baby" (For Bobbie)came on as I started to leave the barn. I've heard this song for years, but never until that moment did I realize how the words fit our experiences together. Thank You for the sign, Bob & Great Spirit, that our spirits are still connected! Thank You, John, for always healing my soul with your music!
By husband of 40 years died in Oct 2010. He chose this song for his Army buddy to sing, with acoustic guitar, at our big, formal military wedding in 1970 in the hallowed cathedral of my hometown. This humble song was so beautiful, my uncles cried. For our 25th Wedding Anniversary, before iPods and Internet, he gave me a special cassette tape of it that he'd made. Today is the first time I've listened to it in 15 years. Today, I'm finally able to grieve.
I have chosen to read this at my sister's wedding, it reminds me of our childhood and family holidays in Cornwall, the lyrics make my eyes brim with tears everytime
I love this song very beautiful
