Aspen, Colorado on a Saturday night
Jesse wishes she was at home
Upset because her baby just aint treatin her right
So afraid of being alone
Said she heard some stories hes been runnin around
Said somehow she knows its all true
She says a breaking heart can make a terrible sound
She said she dont know what to do
Think about a bad time, cant get much worse
Think about a hard time, take it to the wall
This wont be the last time, sure aint the first
The bigger they are, the harder they fall
You might say shes caught between a rock and a hard place
You might say she just cant win
Some just cant recover from a slap in the face
Some just get right up and start all over again
Think about a bad time, cant get much worse
Think about a hard time, take it to the wall
This wont be the last time, sure aint the first
The bigger they are, the harder they fall
Think about a bad time, cant get much worse
Think about a hard time, take it to the wall
This wont be the last time, sure aint the first
The bigger they are, the harder they fall
Aspen, Colorado on a Saturday night
Jesse wishes she was at home
Shes mad because her baby just aint treatin her right
So afraid of being alone
So afraid of being alone
Nobody wants to be all alone
She dont want to be all alone
So afraid of being alone
We dont want to be all alone

Comments/Interpretations
The live version, particularly, that appears on the double-CD ("The Wildlife Concert") is fantastic. It shows a "Rocky" side of John Denver that no-one expects. On the video, after he finishes performing this song, he says to the audience, "Who'd've thunk it, huh? John Denver doing Rock & Roll."
Not only his singing and guitar playing, but that of his band, too. Especially, James Burton on lead guitar, Jim Horn on saxophone, and Chris Nole on keyboard.
