The Little Girl Lyrics
Artist: John Michael Montgomery
Her parents never took the young girl to church.
Never spoke of his name never read her his word.
Two non believers walking lost in this world
took their baby with them what a sad little girl.....
Her daddy drank all day and mommy did drugs.
never wanted to play or give kisses & hugs.
She'd watched the tv and sit there on the couch
while her mom feel asleep and her daddy went out
And the drinking and the fighting
just got worse every nite.
Behind their couch she'd be hiding
oh what a sad little life..
And like it always does the bad just got worse.
with every slap and every curse
Until her daddys in a drunk rage one nite
Used a gun on her mom and then took his life
And some ppl from the city took the girl far away
To a new Mom and a new Dad
Kisses & Hugs every day!
Her first day at Sunday school
The teacher walked in
and a small little girl stared at a picture of him....
She said I know that man
there on that cross I don't know his name
but i know hes got arms
cause he was there in my old house
held me close to his side....
as i hid there behind our couch the nite my parents died......

this song is almost to what my life was when i was a kid.!!!!!
Her first day at Sunday school
The teacher walked in
and a small little girl stared at a picture of him....
She said I know that man
there on that cross I don't know his name
but i know he got off
cause he was there in my old house
With all due respect... i dont think the lyrics are " and i know hes got arms" but instead " but i know he got off" i think that makes more since plus this is the way i sing it at alot memorials and stuff. :)
that is so sad that she had to live with a family like that. no kisses and hugs no nothing. at least she made it through
Allie is correct it is "but I know he got off"
this song ma timekes me cry every time i sing it. its so sad. at least she made it through it all
THE SAD PART ABOUT THIS WHOLE THING IS THAT THERE ARE KIDS WHO LIVE LIKE THAT TODAY AND NO ONE EVEN CARES THEY JUST IGNORE IT LIKE ITS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS BUT THE REALITY IS THEY COULD HAVE PROBABLY HELPED AD GOT HER OUT B4 SHE HAD TO C THAT
Those lyrics are so dumb.
"Her parents never took the young girl to church./
Never spoke of his name never read her his word."
So because they didn't go to church they're bad people. Who cares if she never went to church. That's why I hate country music now; everything is religious bull shit!
if your gonna write lyrics on the internet get up right ya dumb buck!
that made me cry
I love this song,it makes me cry every time i hear it,this song is just like my life when i was a kid and im a 24 year old mother of 1 and one on the way and since my childhod my life is great now
i think my childhood changed my life forever and the way i look at other kids
It is very sad.. but also true. People do live like this its true.
the last verse is correct, cause if he didn't have arms he would not be able to hold her close to his side...
It's "but i know he got off" not "i know he's got arms."
I don't think it's arms. I think it's "got off". The girl sees him hanging on that cross and says he must have gotten off, because he was there with me.
@uiop
christian people aren't better people, they are just forgiven. they know, why they live. they have a purpose. they will be saved and embraced by jesus one day.
to go to church doesn't mean you are saved, but it helps you to get to know the lord a lot through the sermon and talks with christians.
god bless you all.
I work with abused kids and this song nails it.
Most people don't know how rampant abuse is and the cost in human tragedy.
And yes, it's "He got off."
i know a kid at my school who is like that it's really bad for him. im so sorry for all you kids out there who have, had, or are living like that. Sorry...
i agree with bea. its not just that they never went to church its that the little girl didnt know jesus was there when she needed him
How sad 4 u Uiop....
How sad 4 u Uiop....it isn't about going to church it's about knowing their is something beyond this world that is positive for all.
