St Elmos Fire Lyrics
Artist: John Parr
Album: St Elmos Fire
Growin' up
You don't see the writin' on the wall
Passin' by
Movin' straight ahead you knew it all
But maybe sometime if you feel the pain
You'll find you're all alone
Everything has changed
Play the game
You know you can't quit until it's won
Soldier on
Only you can do what must be done
You know in some way
You're a lot like me
You're just a prisoner
And you're tryin' to break free
CHORUS:
I can see a new horizon
Underneath the blazin' sky
I'll be where the eagle's
Flyin' higher and higher
Gonna be your man in motion
All I need is a pair of wheels
Take me where my future's lyin'
St. Elmo's Fire
Oooh...
Burnin' up
Don't know just how far that I can go
(Just how far I go)
Soon be home
Only just a few miles down the road
I can make it
I know I can
You broke the boy in me
But you won't break the man
(CHORUS)
I can climb the highest mountain
Cross the wildest sea
I can feel St. Elmo's Fire burnin' in me
Burnin' in me
Just once in his life
A man has his time
And my time is now
And I'm comin' alive
I can hear the music playin'
I can see the banners fly
Feel like you're back again
And hope ridin' high
Gonna be your man in motion
All I need is a pair of wheels
Take me where my future's lyin'
St. Elmo's Fire
(CHORUS)
I can climb the highest mountain
Cross the wildest sea
I can feel St. Elmo's Fire burnin' in me
Burnin'
Burnin' in me
I can feel it burnin'
Oooh, burnin' inside of me

Because the music that's made these days is garbage. All about ho's and money. No real substance. That's why!

Some trivia about this song from IMDB: Singer John Parr, who co-wrote and sung the title song "St. Elmo's Fire" for the soundtrack, explained during a speech at the Childrens choice awards in Sheffield that he was "not particularly thrilled" to be working on the film and that, motivation for the song actually came from a young man who had recently become paralyzed. He said that "the wheels" of the Man in Motion referenced in the lyrics was popularly thought to mean the wheels of Demi Moore's jeep, but actually refers instead to those of a wheelchair.
One of the great pick-me-up songs of all time. 100% classic.
fantastic song ever written brillll.
BORING cant you write songs more jazzy
the movie is awsome and so is the movie
i agree with everybody here, but with Paige Midgley.. this song is one of the best one ever... or at least second best to none, LOL
Barack Obama is fuc*ing negro!
Great song... crap movie
nuff said
That's one of the best songs ever. very emotional. gotta love it!
Awesome. End of.
ROCK ON
Powerful song. Both testosteron and emotion.
However John Parr sings about a pair of wheels. The association I get with that is my motorcycle. Referring to it as a wheelchair or a Jeep seems not logical, Joe (4/5/2009).
Both means of transport obviously have two pairs of wheels... or am I wrong?
Anyway song rocks, even here in Uruzgan!
Power to you all!
to be honest I really don't care what the song is all about, but I like it a lot anyways
This song shall set you free.
This and Seger's Roll Me Away
make the adrenaline flow every time.
Im bound to this song!
super song
love this song,ROCKS
This 80's song is a very powerful song!! Tells how you should go through life !!!!!!!!!!! this song should be life!!!Love it!!!!!
This song was written by David Foster and John Parr who are both natives of British Columbia. The inspiration for the song comes from a young man from BC whose name is Rick Hansen. He was paralyzed in an automobile accident and went on to start a Man In Motion tour where he wheel chaired around the globe. Google it!
this is a inspirational, powerful and loving song, we need all the inspiration we can get to do what must be done.
This song didn't make any sense in 1985 and it doesn't make any sense in 2010. What has St. Elmo's fire got to do with anything in these lyrics. "I can feel St. Elmo's fire burning in me." What? This is exactly what popular 80s music was all about - horrible synthesizers and inane, empty lyrics, and is was gobbled up - these were bad, bad times for music on the radio. I'm so glad I had cassettes instead of having to listen to this in my car. It was bad enough at parties and college dining hall juke boxes. I don't ever want to hear this or "Take My Breath Away" again.
Ahh I used to listen to this song all the time. Steve's right, alot of the music I loved kinda had jumbled lyrics, though I still found a strong purpose for them :) Songs like this were always so fun, where do the times go?
Great song! even though the video shows the movie clips in it, it was not written for the movie.
Awesome song, one of the best of the 80's. Just so Dionysian!
i love this song soooo much and the movie is just amazing i can watch it over and over again
this is one of the most upliftig song!!! great
this is one of the most uplifting song!!! great
I love cock so much it hurts !
Ralphy,
your place or mine - the wifes away this weekend shopping for news clothes for the nipper so I am up for some !!
Can I come round ? I love sticking willie up my arse !
Ralphy, Charlie, and Seb Rodger are 3 fags that need to be lined up on a wall and SHOT right between their eyes and I wouldn't mind doing it!!!!
We seem to being the thread here don't we ?
Lets get back to the lyrics eh ?
Southern Redneck, anytime you wanna shot one right between my eyes let me know my mouth will be wide open and waiting.
All of Alabama wants a piece of my ebony ass !
this may be the greatest thing to happen to music, nay, the world.
Movie was even less than so so BUT
the song.....ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!!
I never get tired of hearing it and that's easy because it is seldom on the radio.
Great song.....I love singing this song! Music loud & clear!!

The song was written by David Foster for Rick Hansen's Man in Motion tour. Both Foster and Hansen are from British Columbia, Canada. Google it.
This is my favorite 1980s song of all time.
Most uplifting song ever. Saddens and inspires in the same instant.

I agree with Sheryl, up top!! Best. Song. Ever!!
Very Inspiring.
The Brian Eno song of the same name is much better.
this song is epic
I love so much this song! It is so much like 80s!
Have loved this song since the 80's . Can relate to a lot of it.
¡ love this song forever !
This song is up there with best, lifts me up every time I hear it, rock on john!
This is a perfect song for someone becoming an Atheist who had been tormented by various fundamentalist Christian churches.
Feel like I'm back again? No, the original words were "feel like a vet again, I hope I ain't high.
This is my theme song at the moment. It describes my life also. The boy in me has been broken by many people at my school.
But now, they will not break the man in me. The chorus reminds me also of myself running to the girl I love.
I always think about her when this is on, I'm glad I'll be with her for the rest of my life.
I LOVE this song, it is such a BIG sound with fantastic lyrics
I luv this song!!!! One of the best songs ever!!!(:
Ah, this song reminds me of growing up and venturing out into life. Many happy memories :)
MOMA ID ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT ONE DAY SHE'D HAVE THE PRIVLEDGE OF HEARING ME SAY, "YOU KNOW MOM EVERYTHING YOU TOLD ME WHEN WAS I YOUNGER WAS DEAD ON. HERE GOES MOM YOU WERE RIGHT : )
You can use this song to be the anthem for yourself to make changes in your life if things sent going that well , thumbs up to it
This was the theme song for Rick Hansen, who is in a wheelchair, and did a cross-Canada "Man in Motion" tour to raise funds for spinal cord research. Those are the wheels John Parr is referring to!
Great running tune!
This is one of those songs that can instantly place you in the place where you first heard it. Its a total definition of the 80's. It's also one of those inspirational songs that can psych you up into accomplishing anything. Definitely one of the best songs of all time.
This song is cheesy, but the lyrics are spot-on ...we all have situations in life that bring us down and we have to just say, to hell with it, i'm going to get over this and get on...:o)
Just heard St elmo's fire on the radio, superb
Joe wrote "This song was written by David Foster and John Parr who are both natives of British Columbia."
John Parr a Canadian??? You are a moron!!! John Parr is English song writer and NOT some dumb and talentless Canadian. You Google it!

John Parr a Canadian??? Bwahahahaha!!!! Are you stupid or something? First of, John Parr is an English song writer and not some talentless Canadian. And secondly the song is full of metaphors... read the lyrics! So you Google it!!!
Geez... some people are dumb! And then people in Canada wonder why we in UK don't like them. Canadians are so stupid! Long Live the Queen!
Fuck you everybody
Listen to the words!!! I mean LISTEN. U MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING! !!!!
I have always loved this song. Ever I first it.
What has happened to John Parr now?
This tune sucks...
Wat a greatest song ever if I was on idols I was gona sing it in the finals
This is positively the best song EVER! Hadn't played it in many years but just bought the CD to play it over and over again. Love it to drive to. The whole CD is phenomenal. Wish I could hear it performed live. I think I'd die! Love the horns.
De Ja Vu ! heared this song after 25 years now again and i always love it. Still Classic 80s
I just listened to this song for 20 minutes straight. Even though I don't know about 80% of the lyrics, I feel the urge to sing my heart out every time I hear it.
I grew up with this song. I'm 16 now but I still love this song. Its so catchy. And by the way "Dr Dre", if you don't like this song, then why comment??!
Theas are great lyrics. I love that song
Very uplifting lyrics and powerfully sung!
Where's the rest of the lyrics?
