Insight Lyrics
Artist: Joy Division
Album: Unknown Pleasures
Guess you dreams always end.
They don't rise up, just descend,
But I don't care anymore,
I've lost the will to want more,
I'm not afraid not at all,
I watch them all as they fall,
But I remember when we were young.
Those with habits of waste,
Their sense of style and good taste,
Of making sure you were right,
Hey don't you know you were right?
I'm not afraid anymore,
I keep my eyes on the door,
But I remember....
Tears of sadness for you,
More upheaval for you,
Reflects a moment in time,
A special moment in time,
Yeah we wasted our time,
We didn't really have time,
But we remember when we were young.
And all God's angels beware,
And all you judges beware,
Sons of chance, take good care,
For all the people not there,
I'm not afraid anymore,
I'm not afraid anymore,
I'm not afraid anymore,
Oh, I'm not afraid anymore.

Comments/Interpretations
brilliant song
Agreed.
One of their best.
probably not as known as Transmission, or LWTUA, but definetely one of the most meaningful and heartfelt songs ever written. wortt listening to just for the music, which is incredible, but the lyrics that speak of absolute failure, dejection and sentimental memory make this a truly haunting and beautiful song. they were all geniuses thinking 20 years ahead of their time. RIP Ian.
also, the version from the john peel sessions totally blows the Unknown Pleasures version out of the water.
my favorite
Brilliant song, actually most of their songs are really good, and the lyrics are just amazing, though depressing but they are good......
peel version kicks ass
Joy Division were before my time and have just heard this song for the first time, stunning and very haunting.
nice one
Ian was depressed and wrote most of lyrics about himself. After his death, the band went back and read his lyrics and realized this.
you can really the influence joy division had on trent reznor when you hear the lyrics in this song
That song mean so much to me...
That brilliant lyric makes me cry.
this is one of my favorite joy division tracks, and the john peel version is AMAZING
Joy Division are sadly before my time since i have just turned 18 lol
But its clear music in general was much more amazing back then, and joy division have a sound that is quite like gary numan, check out his album 'Telekon' and u will be BLOWN away too :P
yeah it is depressing lyrics from a depressed man who let it get the best of him that is why it is so great because he really felt it all.
Universal lyrics. Every single line could be uttered to a T by Mark McGwire.
best ever
Explains my life, right now. "More upheaval for you..."
Muy bueno
Strangely the lyrics feel somewhat zen-like: 'I've lost the will to want more', 'I'm not afraid, not at all', 'all God's angels beware, and you judges be aware, sons of change take good care'...
Very haunting and incredible beautiful in its sadness.
I read this in an old novel.
I came across this track whilst I was researching Sacha Parkinson who appeared in Awaydays. The haunting sadness of the tune plus the despair in every line has made a deep impression in my thoughts.
Yes, I will remember ...and I hope one day to perform this amazing song.
Been listening to this for the last 30 years and am still moved by it.
john peel session, ...pulses in my soul, each beat takes its toll. Slip off my bed, slips off my mask, inevitable comes ah, at last.
