great song.. this band, kula shaker, stayed in india n studied about the Gods n composed this song.. Great song!!!!
really? They went to India and composed this song? can you cite your source? I am not doubting you or something.. I just want to read the rest of the story :)
Kula Shaker... 'I salute you'.. this song is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard~ the wonderful Hindi dilect conjures up great wonderment and thoughts of far away places, distant worlds & the sweet sound of your mind blowing music..
all my regards, wishes, love & peace

Keep rockin', cannot wait to see Kula Shaker live in some fantastic place along the road...

can anyone translate these lyrics
Govinda means "The LORD KRISNA"
Jaya means "to great"
Radha is "KRISNA'S LOVER"
Raman means "Who is indulged in LOVE"
Hari "an another name of KRSNA"
Just for your info, as beautiful as the song is, Kula did NOT compose this! The lyrics are part of a chant religiuosly and regularly sung by hindus the world over, and have been doing so for hundreds of years, well before the Kula were reincarnated!
Nothing can be as beautiful as this words in the lyrics, yes this lyrics obviously were not written by the Band "Kula Shaker". It was composed in BC still sung in AD expressing the Eternal love towards Krishna, thats the greatness of this song. But I appreciate "Kula Shaker" Band the way they have composed it, its so soothing, it makes any person..., no matter what ever god you believe in, or what ever religion you follow, it will make you feel relaxed and makes your mind find peace. Thats the power of this Lyrics "Govinda Jaya Jaya
Gopala Jaya Jaya
Radha-ramanahari
Govinda Jaya Jaya
Nrsingadeva Jaya Nrsingadeva
Gaura Gaura Gaura Hari". Jai Hari OM.Hats off "Kula Shaker"

someone told me years ago that the lead guy.. crispian?? he gets his inspiration for this album from his wife who is indian i think.. i truley love this song. tattva is another favorite. x
Fabuluos...makes u go in a kinda trance....
"Hellbent" u r d piece of shit....
I love this song :), it s so etnical. But until now, i still dont know the meaning of the lyrics.
@ Floating_globe. Crispian is a devotee of Lord Krishna himself too. He's initiated by Srila Narayana Swami who is from India but sometimes travels to Europe. I never met the swami but heard from a friend that he (Crispian) and Chrissy Hynde from the pretenders once sang a bhajan (traditional indian song) for the Swami. So it's definately not only his wife who likes these songs.
JAYA means "victory" and not great
Hare Krishna!
Awesome song, beautiful music with soul touching lyrics. A-1.
Spiritually soothing and peaceful even though the first time I heard it I had no idea of what the lyrics meant.

All of your comments are wonderful. People inspire me so much when they express what touches them deeply. This music is wonderful for that! The haters are amusing but I think Heyy has some good advice! <3
Have a beautiful day everyone.
Namaste
permen bolong rasa plong! Govinda jaya jaya.. GAd-deneb
I just want to know why the haters hate it so much . Kula Shaker were one of the better bands to come out of the Brit Pop era in music , for the record Crispian Mills is a child of an acting dynasty which started with his grandfather Sir John Mills , his mother Hayley Mills and his aunt Juliet Mills. Kula Shaker deserved more credit than they got really, as opposed to Oasis were just lucky and got too much and didn't really have half as as much imagination and creativity that Kula Shaker did . Also Kula Shakers sound is very inspired by the mid to late 60's and still sounds fresh and original now.
when i was in highschool, i used to sing this song during wacking period of the basic military. even though i don't know what i was singing about. it felt good. i don't know why, but it felt good.
Great composition of Hindustan and Western Music! a Masterpiece!
It must be from Arabs!
I really love thi song ince i was in high school... Ilove kuha shaker..
@LauraLi The reason the haters hate it so much, is because they wouldn't know a piece of art if it jumped up and bit them on the arse! Ignore the haters, they go away quicker! .....and you are correct with your info on Crispian btw x
For your info, Govinda is part of DRIFT soundtrack: a recent surfing movie, based on a 70's true story. Nice movie.
"Prabhupada," not "Prabhupda."
