I believe that this song is saying that, here you must experience what is. There is not what you would have it be. We do much evil to ourselves by seeking to make what is ours. And thereby make it what it can never be.
John Lennon said that Life is what happens while we are making other plans. Similar if less poetic expression.
One thing, You are not the experience. You are that which realises it.
