thiis song holds aa very special place in myy heart iit was playyed at myy grannys crematiion but ii diidnt know the name of the song and then ii researched the lyrics on thiis and found out the name of the song.

I heard this song several years ago when Mr Sedaka sang it on the Regis & Cathy show. I loved it! He said he wrote it to his wife. It is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written1!

A beautiful emotional song for me. everytime I hear it tear run down my cheeks.
In August 1956 I just saw this gal coming off the bus, but before she was out, my heart had leapt.
Guess what! we were together for 61 years, lovely wonderful years, till she parted last August, 61 years later. My heart still cries out for her , I still only see her alighting that bus in 1956 & cry out. This song & some others of Neil leave me with tears as I feel lot of his songs were just written for us. Another one in particular, my beloved darlings base song-STAR CROSSED LOVERS-simply because she was a Catholic & I was not. Neil has brought out so many memories & tears in millions. God bless you.

My wife and I heard the song personally performed by Neil in Las Vegas in the 90's. It immediately became our song because it reflected the exact way we met and how we felt. No one could have said it better than Neil. After the show that night I talked with his manager and ask for the CD. It had not been released in America at that time, but Neil said he would send us a copy. I gave her my card and sure enough in a few weeks we received the DC with a signed card from Neil. To this day the song still brings tears to our eyes.
