Even though the drummer sang the song, it was written by Jack Blades as a healing process for himself. His brother died of a drug overdose and he was never able to say goodbye. Even before I knew what this song was about I thought it was one of the best songs ever written. You could critique these lyrics for as long as you want and find something more each time, but that does not change the fact that they are beautiful. This song should go down with the best of all Beatles, Eagles, Zeppelin, and any other musical jaugernaut's tunes. Goodbye, one of the best songs ever written.

This is my all-time fav song...it never gets old. I love the guitar...beautiful. And the lyrics are amazing.

Always loved this song. Stuck in my mind for 20-plus years now. Should have been a much bigger hit for them. I didn't know the story behind it; very sad.

My heart is breaking right now...from being in love with someone who does not feel the same. Strange when we put it on the line finally tonight this song was playing in the background. Right now the pain in almost unbearable...

my husband down loaded songs on to my ipod months ago. i was gardening last week and was listening to the songs. any i came to that i did not like i skipped. i was just about to skip goodbye when the tune caught my attention. thank god it did. it was fantastic and i have been playing it none stop...much to my familys horror. these guys should have won an award for this brilliant song.

Night Ranger is one of my favorite bands, it's really a pity that they weren't as popular as some of the era's other bands.

This song is timeless. Beautifully made, full of emotion. I can never get sick of it! It's just so touching and deep.

This song reminds me of a girl I grew up with. She started chasing me around the playground when we were in third grade. By middle school we were inseparable. In high school we fell in love. Then the summer after we graduated she was killed in a car accident. Night Ranger's "Seven Wishes" album was released four years after she died. Even now, some 30 years after I lost her, I still cry every time I hear "Goodbye."
