Try A Little Tenderness Lyrics
Artist: Otis Redding
Try A Little Tenderness
Otis Redding
oh she may be weary
them young girls they do get wearied
wearing that same old miniskirt dress
but when she gets weary
you try a little tenderness
oh man that
un hunh
i know shes waiting
just anticipating
the thing that youl never never possess
no no no
but while she there waiting
try just a little bit of tenderness
thats all you got to do
now it might be a little bit sentimental no
but she has her greavs and care
but the soft words they are spoke so gentle
yeah yeah yeah
and it makes it easier to bear
oh she wont regret it
no no
them young girls they dont forget it
love is their whole happiness
yeah yeha yeah
but its all so easy
all you got to do is try
try a little tenderness
yeah
damn that hart (hard?)
all you got to do is know how to love her
you've got to
hold her
squeeze her
never leave her
now get to her
got got got to try a little tenderness
yeah yeah
lord have mercy now
all you got to do is take my advice
you've got to hold her
don't squeeze her
never leave her
you've got to hold her
and never
so you got to try a little tenderness
a little tenderness
a little tenderness
a little tenderness
you've got to
got to got to
you've gotta hold her
don't squeeze her
never leaver her
you got
got got got to
now now now
got got got to
try a little tenderness
ye

Damn right!

Great song, but who wrote this sh**.
"i know shes waiting
just anticipating
the thing that youl never never possess"....it's the things she'll never possess...
And what the hell are greavs? The lyric is "she has her griefs and cares"
Listen to the Commitments version of this song...classic
i know shes waiting
its supposed to be you know shes waiting
It's shaggy dress not miniskirt dress.
I hate people who get the words wrong
its also supposed to be youve got to hold her where you want her sqeeze her dont tease her never leave her so yah u messed up my fave part so FIX IT
this is the wrong lyrics to the otis redding song !
Some of the words are wrong
wrong words! good song but actually listen to song atleast once before wasting everyone time writting them down jesus!!!
Not shaggy dress...don't wrongly correct people. It's shaby dress. And this person doesn't know how to spell.
The words are all wrong! Why post them if you don't know the right words? Waste of time.
Otis Redding was one of my many role models. I looked up to his music which contained alot of soul. This is my favorite song out of all of his songs. Don't get the lyrics mixed up please. That's disrespecting the Otis, my man.
Theres some things wrong in these lyrics.
I love this song. When I printed this lyrics i didn't pay attention. I'm mad. Is there anyone who knows the exact words?
Please do us a favor, send it to mcmiana@aol.com and thank you so much.
your spelling is pretty amazing... aren't you an english speaker?
"Try a Little Tenderness" is a love song written by "Irving King" (James Campbell and Reginald Connelly) and Harry M. Woods, and recorded initially on December 8, 1932. Otis rearranged and recorded his R&B version in the 1960s.
there is somuch wrong with those lyrics!!
If you sing this song and use these words youl (you will) be the joke of the town!
it IS shaggy (not shabby) dress in the regular version, but this is the "Live at Monterey" version so he does say "miniskirt" instead of "shaggy"... the lyrics make more sense if you hear Redding's "Live at Monterey" album, which i highly recommend.
the song is asusome just like Ottis Redding
whoeva wrote this obviously aint a very good fan of this song lolz
work on da lyrics man they suck
The words to this song are terrible, and to be honest i love the original words cos its like otis is singing them to me
I LOVE Otis Redding he was the man and his music keep me to track and keep me out of trouble.
He will always be remember on my heart 4 ever
Wow, these are bad lyrics.
Dude, someone never heard the actual song because I knew these lyrics even when I was in elementary school and these are NOT the lyrics!! wearing that same old miniskirt dress?
Yeah try again.
I'll tell you this. I will never come back to this site again for lyrics. It's obvious nobody checks them.
whoever wrote this??? find the right lyrics cuz their wrong and dont make sense
When Otis sang the song live once, he dedicated the song to all the girls (in the crowd presumably) wearing miniskirts. I am listening to an MP3 of that performance and he has definitely deviated slightly from the standard lyrics in this live performance.
i dis like
these are soooo wrong
Singers sometimes play with their song lyrics in live performances. That's y the lyrics r significantly different than the original song. Most people who look at these lyrics wouldn't recognize this version unless they're die hard Redding fans. However, if a version of lyrics r posted that differ from the original it should b specified.
correct the lyrics. The music is great but the annotated lyrics is :(.
Otis is great, but I also like the Three Dog Night version too.
You should try shaggy dress instead if miniskirt
Everyone here moaning about the lyrics being wrong... take a deep breath and a step back and then check out some of the live versions that were recorded of Otis singing this song.
Now who are the biggest fans?
(although there are still some mistakes here hehehe)
Actually there's a live version on YouTube where Otis sings "miniskirts" instead of "shaggy dress". I watched most of the live versions on YT and Otis sings it everytime sligtly different. I love that!
Then you gotta gotta try a little TENDERNEHES!
Woo go donkey!
Please don't nit-pick these lyrics. They get to the get the general shape of the song across. REMEMBER: this is SOUL music. Each recording has its own spin. Use these lyrics as starting point for what your soul has to say.
The words u think are wrong are actually in his live songs
BEST SONG EVER!
otis was and he is a great of them all i hope he was stil living,i feel his recording are new release.i was born in 1985 but i love otis like no other singers around
these lyrics are wrong...
Love this song even the one Jayz made off of this song!
dis is a very nyc song... bt da person who wrote dat sh*t
ooohhhh no you didn't it's so wrong!!! listen again but this time pay attencion
miniskirt? its suppose to be shaggy dress thats not even close
well, i submitted the corrections to these lyrics a while back, not sure why it hasnt been updated lol
I do not know this song until Jessica sang it on AI! Go Jessica..
It is mini skirt, if you've ever heard him during the live performance he even says "I like to dedicate this to all the mini skirts" I think they put greaves lol because of his accent when hes singing
you have the most wrong lyrics everr
at one part it sats yeah yeah yeah and you put no no no.
ballbag
Who wrote the song? I just heard it sung by Danny Thomas as an easy listening version from a 1958 episode of his show called "Danny Roars Again". Thought Otis did the original until today.
Thanks for the lyrics! I see dispute over the lyrics, but this was when music was LIVE and get changed with the groove of the audience. No two performances ever exactly alike.
This song is one of my all time favorites. Im not sure what all the lyrics are but I know Otis is singing this song with conviction....I got got got got got got to say!!!lol
great song words made up by illiterate
3 dog night lyrics better
Who wrote this??? a f***ing Monkey???
Quit defending these lyrics, People are here to see the lyrics of the studio version of the song, not some obscure live version.
who ever did this song e few years ago sure fuck it up
Amazing how perspectives change - now in 2018 I would call this song patronising. Buy her a new dress! Or better still do your share of house and kids care so she can be independent and earn her own money!!
