Get hip to the consultation of the boolawee
Umm hmm, umm
Said, golly, golly miss Molly
Everything's copesetic now
Boog-a-boo, look at you
What I'd like to do to you boy
Ooh boog-a-boo you
You ooh boog-a-boo you, little boy
Get hip to the consultation of the boolawee
Umm hmm, hmm
Niki, Niki, Niki Hoeky
Your pappy's doing time in the pokey
Your sisters on a trip
Your momma got hip
Little boy you're lookin' ok
You ooh boog-a-boo you
You ooh boog-a-boo you, little boy
Get hip to the consultation of the boolawee
I'm talking bout your boola
Talking bout that wee
I'm talking bout your boola
Talking bout that wee
Well get hip to the consultation of the boolawee
Niki, Niki, Niki
Niki, Niki, Niki
Niki, Niki, Niki
Niki, Niki, Niki Hoeky

Comments/Interpretations
Being from Beaumont, Tx, I loved the swamp-rock songs. I looked for rod bernard, johnnie allen, & came across P.J.Proby & remembered a real good song-but couldn't think of the name-This is it! Love this song now as much as "way back when" Brought back some great memories. Long live Swamp Rock!!!
WTF? (Great song though--)
niki hoeky is the baddest ass song by a virtual unknown
The words to this song sound perverted. Is it talking about a pedophile's attraction to a little boy.... or what?
Nicky Hoeky: lyrics by LOLLY VEGAS and PAT VEGAS. Remember Redbone ("Come and Get Your Love")?
what is a boolawee?
I always liked the song; beat, cajun gibberish (I thought) and melody. I believe these lyrics have it wrong. I just listened to the song and he says 'girl' where the lyrics say 'boy.' So, I don't know if it was a gay man who did this 'translation' as a joke, or if in fact what I always thought was 'girl' is, 'boy.' If that's the case, I'm truly amazed that no one back in the 60's said anything about it. 'Cause they weren't nearly as tolerant of homosexuals back then.
This was covered by various artists, male and female, so some versions were worded "little girl" and others "little boy". If I heard it correctly, Proby sang "little girl". Proby was known for a weakness for girls, some of them a bit too little. I don't remember any rumors of him being into boys, little or otherwise.
About the gender reference - these are they lyrics taken from the Bobbie Gentry (female) version of the song.
PJ Proby uses "girl" and Bobbie Gentry swapped it for "boy" because she is female.
Boolawee: My guess - it's a cajun pronunciation of a combination of Belle (beautiful, feminine) and Oui (yes).
Or it could be something else. PJ is still alive and performing. Ask him if you get a chance.
