Old Cape Cod Lyrics

Artist: Patti Page

If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air
Quaint little villages here and there
(You're sure)You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod
(Cape Cod, that old Cape Cod)

If you like the taste of a lobster stew
Served by a window with an ocean view
(You're sure)You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod

Winding roads that seem to beckon you
Miles of green beneath a sky of blue
Church bells chimin' on a Sunday morn
Remind you of the town where you were born

If you spend an evening you'll want to stay
Watching the moonlight on Cape Cod Bay
You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod

(aah, aah)

If you spend an evening you'll want to stay (on Cape Cod Bay)
Watching the moonlight on Cape Cod Bay
You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod
You're sure to fall in love
You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod

When I think of The Cape, Patti's song starts singing in my soul. Her song captures the timeless beauty of Cape Cod. Although I moved from Massachusetts, I continue to hear Patti's song beconing us back. Thanks, Patti

I'm approaching Cape Cod for my first visit and this tune is stuck in my head. Needed to find the lyrics to accompany the tune. Marvelous!

This such a romatic song. It's hard to get it out of your head.
Wouldn't it be nice to open a very nice restruant with dim lights and beautiful songs playing in the back ground under low valume. Songs like Dean Martin, Nat king Cole Frank Senatura and so on. Tables would be set with candle light or a small little light in the middle. I coould just picture this with your loved one or that special person your with.

I picked up on this wonderful song whilst watching Die Hard 2 a while back! But then I realised that it had been in my music memory from sometime earlier. My mother used to sing Sunday mornings when she was preparing lunch and this had been one of her favourites when it first came out. At the time my personal taste was rock and the like, but clearly this one just stuck. It just takes me straight back there every time I hear it.

We are heading to Cape Cod (Chatham) with friends this week to visit our children who live there. I only remembered the words "you're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod" and just had to look it up for the rest of the words. Now I can sing it to everyone during our 10 hour car ride. Words are so true - "if you spend an evening you'll want to stay".

I remember first hearing this song in the 50's as a kid. I've never been to Cape Cod, except through this song. But I feel like it's a part of me.

I've been coming to the Cape since the fifties and this song still expresses its allure. Cape Cod is much more crowded and developed now, but you can still turn a corner on a cracked old road, and with the sea pines on one side and dunes on the other, you're in Old Cape Cod.

On my way to my Mother's assisted living to have a Cape Cod party with resisdents who lived there during the 1940's. Just returned from a visit to Sandwich during Thanksgiving and am bringing a bit of sand to them as a gift.

I hand wrote the lyric "if you spend an evening you'll want to stay, watching the moonlight over Cape Cod Bay. You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod." On the back side canvas of my painting of the Candleberry Inn in Brewster. It hangs at that Inn. What a perfect spot and most perfect place to "fall in love with old Cape Cod" for sure.
