This awesome song first hit the top of the charts in the early 70's when it was played & sung by one of the first country-rock type groups - duo actually - "Delaney & Bonnie" -their one hit wonder! However -they were very close friends with an emerging from the Creme - Eric Clapton and I think hr played on the record. There is a big connection between their style on this track & Eric's early solo stuff e.g. Lay Down Sally, After Midnight, etc. I saw Eric with Blind Faith live at the L.A. Fourm (sp) in 70=71 and "Delaney and Bonney were the opening act! D & B had a pretty good extra lead plyer with them that night that noby knew or recognixed because of bib shades & really long combed over the face hair - but we found out the next morning from the L. A, Times - that we had been listening to another of Eric's friends play - some up & coming guy named - George Harrison!!!!!!!!!
