It's a talking song about Urban Life! I think it's nice, if I can't be an uptown girl, I'd settle for a west end girl.

The lyric:

"From Lake Geneva to the Finland nation"

Is wrong. Should be:

"From Lake Geneva to the Finland Station"

Yes it's finland Station Ko, it refers to the station Lenin arrived at on his way back from exile to a revolutionary russia.

The west end girls are I believe about the working girls of soho and london in general.

The Dive bar was an excellent underground bar that shut a few years ago in china town. It had a caverous shape to the celling and sometimes a dj would do a set of old jazz records or anything really, very 50's.

I think the song is about being excited and exhilarated but slightly scared in a big city.
