There is joy in repetition because the lady keeps saying 'love me' over and over again. Prince described this man as someone who was looking for love and he found love with this woman who was constantly repeating the words 'love me' over and over again. But, Prince also asks why can't she love him. Maybe there is a forbidden reason as to why she cannot love him the way he wants to be loved.

Yes! I agree with all of the above statements in that this song is incredible in its simplicity. 2 words, "Love me..." That's just seriously powerful and sexy. When I first heard this song, my first thought was, "Right On!"

All good ideas. Try and looking at the lyrics with the "slang" term of "JOY" in mind. As in "He shot his "joy" all over her face".
