I Got A Woman Lyrics

Artist: Ray Charles

Well... I got a woman, way over town
She's good to me, oh yeah
Said I got a woman, way over town
She's good to me, oh yeah
She gives me money when I'm in need
Yeah, she's a kind of friend indeed
I got a woman, way over town
She's good to me, oh yeah

She saves her lovin', early in the mornin'
Just for me, oh yeah
She saves her lovin', early in the mornin'
Just for me, oh yeah
She saves her lovin', just for me
Always loves me, so tenderly
I got a woman, way over town
She's good to me, oh yeah

She's there to love me
Both day and night
Never grumbles or fusses
Always treats me right
Never runnin' in the streets
Leavin' me alone
She knows a woman's place
Is right there, now, in the home

I got a woman, way over town
She's good to me, oh yeah
Said I got a woman, way over town
She's good to me, oh yeah
Well, she's my baby, don't you understand
Yeah, I'm her lovin' man, now
I got a woman, way over town
She's good to me, oh yeah
Well, don't you know she's all right
Well, don't you know she's all right
She's all right, she's all right
(fade out)

"Kind of Friend indeed" at the time the song was written would not be conservative. You have to understand that radio was banning stuff like this and by today;s standards what crass people are looking for would not have existed at all. Ray was pushing boundaries in his time...watch the movie.

Yeah...WAY TOO CONSERVATIVE. Just go on and tell Ray Charles that his lyrics are too conservative so he just get on that and fix it right away. That way he can fix his classic hit that has affected the roots of Soul and Rock 'n Roll music. Good idea. We can't have music that's too conservative, can we? ........I mean, come on people. This wasn't made 10 years ago. He's not Lil Wayne.

This is song is about his mistress. A woman on the side who lives "way over town." Nothing to do with conservatism, and a great song.

This was one of the best I had ever heard when it came out; I am now 73 and it is still one of the best. Both Ray and the music is unbelievable!

How old are you all... that's just the way it was back then. Try listening to James Brown peeps, you think Ray was bad PAAAALEEEEZE!!! The problem now is even though we are supposed to have freedom of speech, we can't really say what we want because there is always someone out there that will get O...FFENDED!!!
