i love this song because wwhen i was a little girl my nana used to always sing it to me as i fell asleep.I also love this song because it is soo soft and slow and iy really makes you think about what he is singing about.And the next reason is because it reminds me of my nana because she lives far away from where i live.I live in alberta an dshe lives in ontario.Finally i love this song because when i listen to it it reminds me of when i was a little baby.

When I was a young teenager my mum taught me "You are my Sunshine" so that a friend and I could go to a local old peoples home and give an "old time" concert which we really enjoyed doing. I am now 57 years old and work as a care assistant in a care home for the elderly, my favourite song to sing is "You are my Sunshine" which certainly brightens up the day for the residents.....even though I dont sing too well|

This song has been passed down as a lullaby from my mother Florence, to me to my sons, JR and Blake and is now being sung as part of a nighttime routine for TREY and Allé.

Now we can share it with others.
My mother was a night club singer and shared many beautiful songs with her children and I love to keep her memory alive with my sons and grand children in hopes they pass them down.Thanks to Lyric Depot for capturing memories we can tap into.

When my daughter was a new born I sang this song to her, it calmed her every time. Now she is three and she just made me sing it to her again. She tells me that I'm her sunshine. It's funny that this song means so much to her at such a young age. My mom use to sing it to my niece to calm her down. When we would put her in her car seat and she would cry her heart out, so we would drive down the roads singing it to her over and over again just to make a trip without her screaming and crying.
