Mad About The Boy Lyrics

Mad About The Boy
Ray Noble
Mad about the boy,
I know it's stupid to be mad about the boy,
I'm so ashamed of it, but must admit
The sleepless nights I've had about the boy.
On the silver screen,
He melts my foolish heart in ev'ry single scene,
Although I'm quite aware that here and there,
Are traces of a cad about the boy.
Lord knows I'm not a fool girl,
I really shouldn't care.
Lord knows I'm not a schoolgirl,
In the flurry of her first affair.
Will it ever cloy?
This odd diversity of misery and joy.
I'm feeling quite insane and young again
And all because I'm mad about the boy.

A little history- This was written by Noel Coward for his lover,
He was gay. He wrote both music and lyric.

Comments/Interpretations
i've only heard it once and it was sung by noel coward. I have searched extensively but cannot find mad about the boy actually sung by noel coward. eartha kit and other females do not give it justice.
It is interesting, this song appeals to me in a strange way, and now I understand, the one who wrote the lyrics and music was gay!
Esther Ofarim sings it quite beautifully. Noel Coward does sing it awfully well, though.
