Travelin' Man Lyrics
Artist: Ricky Nelson
I'm a travelin' man
I've made a lot of stops all over the world
And in every port I own the heart
Of at least one lovely girl
I've a pretty Seniorita waiting for me
Down in old Mexico
If you're ever in Alaska stop and see
My cute little Eskimo
Oh my sweet Fraulien down in Berlin town
Makes my heart start to yearn
And my China doll down in old Hong Kong
Waits for my return
Pretty Polynesian baby over the sea
I remember the night
When we walked in the sands of the Waikiki
And I held you oh so tight
------ instrumental break ------
Oh my sweet Fraulien down in Berlin town
Makes my heart start to yearn
And my China doll down in old Hong Kong
Waits for my return
Pretty Polynesian baby over the sea
I remember the night
When we walked in the sands of the Waikiki
And I held you oh so tight
Oh, I'm a travelin' man
Yes, I'm a travelin' man

THE LAST TIME I CHECKED, WAIKIKI IS A HAWAIIAN BEACH...SO WHAT IS HE DOING THERE WITH HIS POLYNESIAN BABY?
and further more: the young lady down in Berlin town is a "Fräulein" ä - "Umlaut" can be written as "Fraeulein" if you cannot use an 'umlaut' letter as it is used in German...
@thedelster: Uhm. Last time I checked, Hawaii is considered part of the Polynesian triangle.
So, what are you doing posting a message such as yours without doing a modicum of due diligence ? (hint: google is your friend)
hush! this is a mushy lovey song - don't spoil it with technicalities. sit back and enjoy. cheers.
Hawaiian people are considered Polynesian.
By crikey's mate, what's a flamin' bunch of wallopers going on about? sit back and relax, take you fist of the joystick, and pleasue your ears heart mind and soul insteaad of finding faults with a simple lovey tune such as this little beauty. If you don't like it mate well flamin' bugger off ok!
I iz be trolling your lyrics!
Quite right Hawaiian eye, Pacific Ocean - Polynesia.
Enjoy the lyrics, forget the interpretation.

You people are too funny! :)
One of the best songers everrr. All his songs are amazing - the best. I absolutely love Ricky Nelson. <3
After 20yrs I retired. I was in 9 different Ports of Call while I was in... I had a girlfriend in each.. As well as the one waiting that I came back an married! My baby brother had just enough of a mean streak to keep giving them our mailing addresses when we would follow my job around. After fifteen years, my wife almost divorced me, due to the hot, steamy letters I kept getting.. My brother finally slipped to a woman who told my wife how they kept getting our where-abouts... lol Very True Story!
Are we in a grammar class or early Rock Class. Please..enjoy the song and the good ole times that were. A hell of a lot better music than we have today.
What a melody. I can listen to it over and over again. Talk of music that has stood the test of time and this one tops the list.
I agree with Nephat Njeru, i can listen to it all over n over n over again and i still does now. When this music was created, i bet the person is in a very very good and dreamy mood, just lovely when Ricky Nelson add the voice to a perfect finish touch to the song. I am fortunate to have come across this song and i can't get it out of my mind!
The fist 45 I ever purchased. Think I was twelve with an active imagination.
"This song reminds me that what love means to the girls who does'nt get what they have had been waiting...how broken hearted they would be!"...anyway this is one good lovely song.,keep up the good life...
travelin man was first offered to and turned down by sam cook. it became ricky nelsons biggest hit.
So no comments on the objectification and sterotyping of women? And since when is Berlin a port of call? I reckon this was a bone tossed in to lighten up the Cold War mood at the time.
Where is the ''cute little jungle bunny'' from Botswana?

Always LOVED Ricky Nelson's songs. This is one of many. They had songs in that time which I understand.

Heard this on the adio when we were still getting AM Radio
i still use the song on karaoke.and rickys.version of fools rush in.
Don't you dorks have anything better to do than pick apart a classic song instead of just listening to it for pleasure? It's rock n' roll, not Beethoven.
I shopping at the grocery store yesterday and heard the song playing overhead. I'm singing all the words and wondering how I remember it. My mom laughed and said I played it when you were little. I'm 46 now. I wouldn't care if he said my Alaskan girl down in old Mexico. She sent me a pic of the album she still had. Awesome.
