5:06 AM (Every Strangers Eyes) Lyrics
Artist: Roger Waters
Album: The Pros And Cons Of Hitchhiking
Waitress: "Hello...you wanna cup of coffee?"
Customers: "Heh, turn that fucking juke box down
You want to turn down that juke box...
loud in here"
Waitress: "I'm sorry, would you like a cup of coffee?
Ok you take cream and sugar?"
In truck stops and hamburger joints
In Cadillac limousines
In the company of has-beens
And bent-backs and sleeping forms
On pavement steps
In libraries and railway stations
In books and banks
In the pages of history
In suicidal cavalry attacks
I recognize
Myself in every stranger's eyes
And now from where I stand
Upon this hill I plundered from the pool
I look around, I search the skies
I shade my eyes, so nearly blind
And I see signs of half remembered days
I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways
I recognize
The hope you kindle in your eyes
It's oh so easy now
As we lie here in the dark
Nothing interferes it's obvious
How to beat the tears
That threaten to snuff out
The spark of our love

And in wheelchairs by monuments
Under tube trains and commuter accidents
In council care and county courts
At Easter fairs and sea-side resorts
In drawing rooms and city morgues
In award winning photographs
Of life rafts on the China seas
In transit camps, under arc lamps
On unloading ramps
In faces blurred by rubber stamps
I recognise...
Myself in every stranger's eyes

excellent SirGasso,
why does everyone miss that
And in wheelchairs by monuments
Under tube trains and commuter accidents
In council care and county courts
At Easter fairs and sea-side resorts
In drawing rooms and city morgues
In award winning photographs
Of life rafts on the China seas
In transit camps, under arc lamps
On unloading ramps
In faces blurred by rubber stamps
I recognise...
Myself in every stranger's eyes ADD IT :P

pure genius !!!!!!!!!!!!!
amazing album as usual but whens the next one ?????
This is a song that everyone should listen to, while stoned, before they die!
(sorry for my english)but R.W. makes me wonder about human race. What the F. are we? (or we are?).
man I love this song
The man is the best! He makes the deepest songs. He's not even close to superficial!!
I would play this @ my funeral. To me, it expresses the final understanding that we are all a part of one another & that we are all, in the end, One. Therefore, no1 is greater than me or less, no1 deserves anything more or less than me & that if I can see it in another person, it's becoz it is within me, too. Thus, I am not burdened by the need 2 judge others as better or worse, I can accept them, & myself, warts & all- i dont have 2 hide myself from others nor they from me. It's called unconditional love.... Namaste
^^You get that from wedding crashers?
On a serious note, this song, and whole album is amazing. Roger waters is a genius!
Loved MichelleShockt's comment. It actually projects a person in a black suit preparing himself to attend someone's funeral with this wonderful song in the background. Hope to listen something more like this from Roger Waters. This song, along with Amused to Deat, has become my everyday tracklist.
hhh
