Three Wishes Lyrics

Artist: Roger Waters
Album: Amused To Death

Reached back for the bottle
And rubbed against the lamp
Genie came out smiling
Like some Eastern tramp
He said hey boy what's happening
What is going on
You can have three wishes
If you don't take too long
I said well
I wish they were all happy in the Lebanon
Wish somebody'd help me write this song
I wish when I was young
My old man had not been gone
Genie said consider it done
There's something in the air
And you don't know what it is
You see someone through the window
Who you've just learned to miss
And the road leads on to glory but
You've used up your last wish
Your last wish
And you want her to come home
Genie said I'm sorry
But that's the way it goes
Where the hell's the lamp sucker
It's time for me to go
Bye
There's something in the air
And you don't know what it is
You see someone through the window
Who you've just learned to miss
And the road leads on to glory but
You've used up your last wish
Your last wish
And you want her to come home

one of the very few Cds that gets played over and over again without skipping, and the volume keeps getting louder and louder without caring, and somehow my eyes begin to water when I reach the solo in this song. This is music, this is how it should be.

My eyes water as well. I'm just listening to it. There is something in this album that makes it unique. Just imagine the world without it ... it would be terrible.

does anyone have the lyrics of the off-voice speaking at the begginig and the end of this song??
by Will on 4/28/2010 9:39pm
When this album came out it was not a big hit, but I'm glad to see that over the years it has only grown and become one of the best lyrically and musically ever created. It's up there with the best ever made..Roger you are a dick for burying the hatchet a bit too late, but your music is brilliant and will remain so.

to Ana ,
Here you go the off-voice speakings :
[Woman:]"I went to buy a....a gas bottle. At first I wanted to buy a big one, but then I hadn't got enough money, so I had to buy a smaller one. And I think if I bought a bigger one, then it would have been... the way I wanted it.
And then, er, we went down, and ahm, I put the children to bed. And I tidied the flat and everything. And then they were asleep and everything was a kind of night. I made a bed in the bathroom. I carried them there and put on the gas bottle.
But today when I think back peh.. about that. If God did take me, I would've have been in hell because I wasn't right."

enjoy :)

Roger Waters will always be the musical and lyrical GENIUS of Pink Floyd hands down. He is even better by far doing and performing his own solo projects. Hats off to Mr.Waters.

David Gilmore deserves praise. Without him Pink Floyd wouldn't have the incredible guitar riffs and solos we all love.
by Trenel on 7/20/2014 9:14pm
This album is a gem from beginning to end as a whole, musically impeccable. Mr Waters has this magic to take through really strong emotional places. Clearly the music that touches you. Here goes my wish, I wish more music like this in the world. See you...

In my opinion this is Roger's best work... After all these years it still amazes..
The original stereo cd is great, but if you get a chance, the sacd remaster is nothing short of phenomenal.

Does anyone have any information on the chant at the end of Three Wishes? Sounds like Tibetan Monks but who knows. Would love to find it unless he wrote it and had it performed specifically for that song.

Roger says " I wist weten I was youngk...". The 'k' in youngk is these because in the Manchester area most of the word en ding with '...ngo are wrongly pronounced with the added 'k'.
Becoming more aware of the value of good English he adds the k to 'young'
