pretty clear....fucking brilliant, especially considering the song came out in approx 1989/1990.

I like to think of this song as being about defeating the communists.

Red Tide refers to a Commy invasion.

A false alarm/test refers to nuclear warning sirens.

The endless winter night refers to a nuclear winter.

Makes sense to me
