My wife used to dedicate the lyrics to this song to me. I guess I was everything this song personified. I'm sorry, but I'm a guy, and guys think a certain way (you know, Venus vs. Mars).

My wife died 11 months ago at the ripe old age of 53 from that monster we call cancer. I now have a 14-year-old son to raise by myself. Guess what girls? He's exactly like I am, and I'm glad. I wouldn't change a thing about him, or about me for that matter. Get used to it, because we're not going to change.

I agree with Christine. John; she praised you for the times "you shined". Remember ; nobody is perfect; but your best it's all SHE focused on. God bless you and your song.
Ps: I remind my 15 year old daughter of HER FATHER when HE SHINES; not when they argued

I always sang this song for/about a man I love. Not because of any flaws he had/has...but because he was/is so complex, so full of contradiction sometimes, so...everything. He is the moon in the morning and the sun out at night. And when he shines.....which he does often....he takes my breath away, every time. I imagine that's what your wife thought of when she heard this song and dedicated it to you.

Had this number played to me at a Mandela Corinor training. This applies so much to me, just amazing. I wonder if this song applies to more people... If so enjoy, you are not alone.

Yeah, he's a jerk, and he's raising another one! But remember the words are "WHEN" he shines, which in his case evidently wasn't that often (not with that attitude!)
