Fantastic song. My favorite of hers, along with Killing Horses. Small correction, it's not "PUNCHING through his spike of rage", it's "punches".

Lol. Your favorite? I haven't heard Swimming Horses in ages... I'm gonna listen to it now. Playing the video for Killing Jar as I write this, I was looking to clarify lyrics. I was born too late :( Either that or just totally sheltered to the age of 16. Missed some good shows, but have seen her 4 times since 1990. And yeah it is "punches". It really does suck, music had so much more soul and melody in that era. Commercialization of "alternative" killed it, now there is a sad, sad void in music with but a handful of good bands to listen to. Once there were many. VNV Nation gets crammed into a tiny hole in the wall for a show when back then they would have filled a large theater. Yes, I'm pining.

this song is about collect bugs like butterflies. The killing jar is a glass jar that bugs are put into with formaldehyde to sudate them thay way when you push the needles threw them they you can display their wings.

Wow Vaughn, I totally took something else from it. I thought it was it was about an addict that eventually overdoses. Glass hand through the water was the needle injection. The rest drug metiphor and tipping.

you're right, the killing jar is for snuffing out specimens, generally for mounting. however, this is an analog of junkie. the wishing well part gives away it. clever of her/them.
