Lazybones Lyrics
Artist: Soul Coughing
Album: Irresistible Bliss
When all the limbs are numb and clean,
and you're in transit, dream to dream,
I'll drift there to meet you, lazybones.
When all the world has lain and sank,
and money sleeps inside the banks,
I'll drift there to meet you, layzbones.
Cameraman sways to remember how the eye dances,
drunkenness is a hand-held
scrambling down Delancey
I come stumbling;
well I hear you had to take a shine
and firing at random, I hear the rays fell upon mine.
Cool you, Miss Amaze, with a handful of water
trucks encircling, bearing down, coming louder.
If I could stay here, under your idle caress
and not exit to the world and phoniness and people.
When all the noise has left your head
will someday you rise off the bed?
I'll be there to lift you, lazybones.

Comments/Interpretations
As everyone seems too 'lazy' to even hazard a guess at the meaning of this delightful song, i will. I believe it is about the "collective unconsciousness" of our society, the illusion of our world. The singer dares say that he is one who see's past the pretense and mind numbing doldrum of it all and is willing to assist in the 'awakening' of our world.
:) beautiful song!
but i think it's a song about the love affair between an alcoholic and a junkie.
Doughty has said that it is a song about heroin.
I agree with queequeg, but I don't think its about the masses. I think its about her unconciousness and unwillingness to realize life, maybe because its too hard, which is what she's telling herself, and he agrees, but he has to stay and he'll stick by until she decides to see and he'll help her up.
These guys are right. Killer song, too...
where can i get the guitar chords
simple yet so powerful!
