Sleeping Angel Lyrics
Artist: Stevie Nicks
Album: Enchanted
Written by Stevie Nicks.
Take me if you need me
But never hold me down
You're asking me to trust you
Well there's little of that around
I'm trying to believe you
And I'm learning all the time
Two-part personality
The flower and the vine
Flower and the vine
Take me sleeping angel
Catch me when you can
Real love affairs are heavy spells
For a woman and a man
For a woman and a man
I need you because you let me breathe
Well you've taken me away
But never take me lightly
Or I could never stay
No I could never stay
Well, someday when we're older
And my hair is silver gray
A braid with all of the love that you have
Like a soft silver chain
Whoa, someday when we're older
And my hair is silver gray
A braid with all of the love that you have
Like a soft silver chain
Well, like a soft silver chain
Oh, take me sleeping angel
Oh, catch me when you can
And a braid with all the love that you have
Like a soft silver chain

Comments/Interpretations
It's "unbraid with all of the love that you have". Not " a braid".
one of stevie nick's best.
She pours her heart out in this song. it touches my soul every time i hear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just found this on you tube after watchinhg fast times at ridgemont high. When I first heard the little clip in the movie it haunted me for along time.So beutiful. Now that we have Utube,I've finally heard it all.God bless you Stevie,I love you.
Love this song, but I think it's crazy. If she wasn't high when she wrote/sang this than I'll be damned. All of her early lyrics, are completely nuts, yeah, that may be symbolism, but in symbolism something always means something, and it's quite clear what, while in Stevie's songs, such as Sara, Angel, Sisters, Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, all her early stuff are hard to understand because she was completely baked, not because of some heavy symbolism.
I don't even think there's all that much symbolism in here.. it's all pretty straight forward.
The only thing that's symbolic is the "when my hair is silver grey / unbraid with all of the love taht you have..." stuff, and that's basically saying, "When we're older, I'll slow down, and I'll let you love me.."
I think the lyric "a braid" is correct as a braid of silver/gray hair would resemble a "soft silver chain". "Unbraid" means "untie" and doesn't relate to a "soft silver chain".
