Little Star Lyrics
Artist: Stina Nordenstam
Album: Romeo & Juliet Soundtrack
Little star, so you had to go.
You must have wanted him to know.
You must have wanted the world to know
Poor little thing.
Now they know.
Little star,
I had to close my eyes.
There was a fire at the warehouse.
They're always waiting for a thing like this.
Came driving from all over town,
For you, little star.
Little star, you, little star. (Sax solo)
Little star
So you had to go
You must have wanted him to know
You must have wanted the world to know
Poor little thing
And now they know
Laudamus, adorramus te, Dominec.
Laudamusbenedicimus
Domine Deus.
Laudamusbenedicimus
Domine Deus.
Cum Sancto Spiritu, in gloria Dei Patris. For you, little star.

Comments/Interpretations
this is a gorgeous song and i love it :)
what language is used at the end of the song??
latin.
the song is about someone committing suicide... i think it's beautiful.
The language at the end of the song is Latin - it's a prayer to God to ask for a blessing for the soul. Isn't the sax evocative in this sweetest of tunes...
the Latin is a part of the catholic prayer "Gloria".It means: "We praise and bless thee, oh Lord. We praise and bless [...] O lord god. With the Holy Spirit in the glory of god the Father."
i agree with zebedee, it's beautiful. it really is the perfect song for the romeo and juliet soundtrack too.
just curious - how do you know it's about suicide exactly? i mean did stina nordenstam actually SAY this or are you reading between the lines?
I think its commun sense, read it over and over and you can tell its about suicide. Also remember in what part of the movie it comes out
in what part do they play it?
@dominus - actually, she did say it was about a suicide in an interview with MTV years ago. Actually, she said she 'thought' it was about that. Try searching you tube for any interview clips with her. Not trying to be a smartass, just pointing it out.
And yes, I love nearly all her music! My ex-wife couldn't stand her though. That's why she's my "ex" ;)
I love all her albums but I think Dynamite might be my favorite. It certainly is bleak, but haunting and beautiful too. The song Mary Bell alone is enough to keep you up at nights :|
this song is so gorgeous. it really is completely perfect for the movie.
Oooh yes I love this tune! so sweet on the surface and yet how bleak. Gorgeous saxaphone
she's amazing, really.
beautifully tragic song.
PEANUT BUTTAH JELLY TIME!!
written about kurt cobain when he apparently committed suicide.her music is fantastic.
Hi! Do you know where can I find the karaoke of this song? Do you know any web page where I can download it? Iīd traid in youtube but I canīt find it.
Thanks a lot!
This song is utterly beautiful, my mum and dad used to play it to me as a baby, and it never fails to make me cry; it reminds me of all the good and wonderful times in life, along with the unhappy ones too.
this song just takes me away, beautiful
I have loved this song since i can remember it just takes me way very far away just beautiful :)
If you like this one you probably like Flute Song by Cranes its no just a flute song thats the title look it up on you tube
The Latin should read:
Laudamus, adoramus te, Domine.
Laudamus benedictimus
Domine Deus.
Laudamus benedictimus
Domine Deus.
Cum Sancto Spiritu, in gloria Dei Patris.
I could not find a corrections link on here.
This song will always always give me shivers - from the way the first riff of the sax climbs to the heavens, to the cool heat of the synth, to the scatter brushes to the theremin. Isn't this really the Holy Story of the birth of Christ....
I grew up in the cathedral projects in Boston ma. 14 east Brookline st. Jackie Wilson and his friends use to practice singing outside my kitchen window. They harmonized beautiful. It went like this : owe owe owe oweie ra ta ta owee there you are little star. He got thrown out of the projects when he bought his mother a Cadillac.
No, it isn't about Kurt Cobain. He died early April 1994, her album came out that same month. There's no way it was about Kurt Cobain in anyway, shape or form. It takes months to produce, market and distribute a whole album!
Love this song .:) this song was played on romeo + juliet .
the latin goes: we praise thee, we worship thee oh lord, we praise thee we bless thee, oh lord god. "...". with the holy spirit in the glory of god the father. (it's pieces from the Gloria, a prayer in Roman Rite mass.)
It's a STUNNER- Loved not knowing what the words meant - now that I have heard the words I love it more.- I have played it to death - I want more of her music
