Luka Lyrics
Artist: Suzanne Vega
My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
I think it's because I'm clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it's because I'm crazy
I try not to act too proud
They only hit until you cry
And after that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown
Just don't ask me how I am
Just don't ask me how I am
Just don't ask me how I am
My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
I think it's because I'm clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it's because I'm crazy
I try not to act too proud
They only hit until you cry
And after that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore

Comments/Interpretations
i love this song, i think its really cool
its a sad song, but i like it
I really like the melody of this song... That's a cool one...
That's a really sad song, but I guess its the real life... I like the lyrics, she denies what she actually wants him to do.
Good song
Great song.
Nobody has the right to hit anyone or any animal unless it is in self defense and then it must be proportional.
there is nothing great in continuing marraige with a lot of compromisation.
This is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. Good music, with such sad lyrics, and my heart goes out to the artist and all those who have been abused.
If he hits you once, get help. If he hits you twice, GET OUT!

Someone told me this is a prostitute song? WTF..
the song of my life
I love this song. It reminds me of when I used to beat my wife until she cried. Lol! Happy days!
the song tells alot..ive been through this kinda stuff..its hard to let go of someone you love even if they are abusive or cruel or other things..im only 16..but im pretty sure i get this song completely..but i wish i wouldve listened to a certain quote i once heard.."Hit me once..shame on you. Hit me twice..shame on me."
(meaning that you shouldnt of hit me the first time..but if you hit me a second or 3rd time..shame on me for staying with you.)
I like this song because it helps me gain marks on my test at school because the teacher make us listen to it and we have to write down the missing words on the blunk space to complete the lyrics and it was an easy task for me.
Anyone who abuses an innocent kid should be hung by their balls and tortured. No one has the right to permanently traumatize and ruin someone's life.
I LOVE THIS SONG, THANK YOU x
When this song first came out I used to cry when I heard it. I had a baby at that time and two young step daughters and couldn't imagine someone doing that to a child. One day in the car one of my step daughters saw me trying to hide my crying when the song came on and asked her father why I was crying.
this song encourages people NOT to report or be concerned about domestic violence...the message is "wait til he kills her...then maybe call the cops "....appalling
sentiments from a femaale...this song should be banned
