Days Are Numbers (The Traveller) Lyrics
Artist: The Alan Parson Project
Album: Vulture Culture
Chris Rainbow - Lead Vocals
The traveller is always leaving town
He never has the time to turn around
And if the road he's taken isn't leading anywhere
He seems to be completely unaware
The traveller is always leaving home
The only kind of life he's ever known
When every moment seems to be
A race against the time
There's always one more mountain left to climb
Days are numbers
Watch the stars
We can only see so far
Someday, you'll know where you are
Remember
Days are numbers
Count the stars
We can only go so far
One day, you'll know where you are
The traveller awaits the morning tide
He doesn't know what's on the other side
But something deep inside of him
Keeps telling him to go
He hasn't found a reason to say no
The traveller is only passing through
He cannot understand your point of view
Abandoning reality, unsure of what he'll find
The traveller in me is close behind
Days are numbers
Watch the stars
We can only see so far
Someday, you'll know where you are
Remember
Days are numbers
Count the stars
We can only go so far
One day, you'll know where you are

I want this to be one of the songs played at my funeral. It is simply one of the most beautiful songs ever, both lyrically and musically.

Alan Parsons Project never cease to amaze
good song
Amazing Alan Parsons
Really good for listening to while travelling by car. Though this song really lifts you up, try to keep your eyes on the road;)
The saxo part is as touching as Gilomour's guitar piece in Comfortably Numb. This number frees me instantly from my urban cage.
Many of us that play the game 'Traveller' have taken this for our informal theme song.
one very good good......
it makes me feel many things in my heart ¢¾

Since I was a teenager I always tried to tie this song's lyrics to the Voyager I project. Read about it. Make the interplanetary spacecraft the subject of this song. Know the project, know what mankind has achieved with Voyager I. Mission time is counted in elapsed time, days are numbers. The spacecraft is lonely and can not go back, it senses the space surrounding it. Now outside the Solar System. Watch the stars (mission full of scientific instruments). One day you will know we're you are (celestial coordinates). We can only see so far (no man made object has gone that far). Makes sense to you? Cheers! EM
