Old and Wise Lyrics
Artist: The Alan Parson Project
Album: Eye In The Sky
(Lead vocal - Colin Bluntstone)
As far as my eyes can see
There are Shadows approaching me
And to those I left behind
I wanted you to Know
You've always shared my deepest thoughts
You follow where I go
And oh when I'm old and wise
Bitter words mean little to me
Autumn Winds will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they asked me if I knew you
I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine
And the sadness would be Lifted from my eyes
Oh when I'm old and wise
As far as my Eyes can see
There are shadows surrounding me
And to those I leave behind
I want you all to know
You've always Shared my darkest hours
I'll miss you when I go
And oh, when I'm old and wise
Heavy words that tossed and blew me
Like Autumn winds that will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that You were a frined of mine
As the final curtain falls before my eyes
Oh when I'm Old and wise
As far as my eyes can see

I like all your musics but my favorite is OLD AND WISE.It's a wonderful and romantic song.
played at my nans funeral such a meaningful song,
Wow... that's a masterpiece...
I'm really impressed.
This is a brilliant song, like most of the emotive Parsons Project tracks, it's deep, and has a sublime sadness to it without being morbid or melancholy.
I always have this choking feeling every time I hear this song..
it just touches the heart..
I love this song men...its make me feel that i will be at this point at a point of time later. You are a great composer at this point of time the 21 century. Keep up the good words men...
I've planned on this being played at my funeral for decades, I'm stunned to find I'm not alone with the idea!
This song is very meaningful. All we can hope for is that we have touched someone's life in a way where when they think of you and smile and remember the good times! Not enough friendship in this world!!
My I recommend another song by alan parson project...Old and Wise is great.. check out the song call "TIME" Its another life time song.....
Funeral song, my thoughts exactly! I was just thinking it might bring people down a bit too much though. Awesome song anyway, stirs so much emotion.

when i listen this song without taking b12, pills i cry.
I have loved this song and wanted it played at my funeral since 1983. The last time I talked to my college buddy a couple of months ago, she said she had been thinking about this song a lot lately. That was my clue, which I didn't pick up on...she passed away suddenly last Friday at age 44...not old, but very wise. An excellent song for someone to remember it 27 years later. Love you guys.
I for one cannot WAIT to play this at my funeral!
the type of words that touch deeply
Very nice, very good ....really amazing song!!
My dad wants this song played at his funeral
couldnt forget this song...dedicated to me by jun.. when we both realized that we werent meant for each other, he told me to remember him through this...il never forget him when am old and wise
Wonderful!
My uncle is dying, that was like a father to me. I want to dedicate this song to him. He is very wise and old.
I really love this song, and I find it sad that the last occurrence of "friend" is misspelled.
It's just a beautiful song....
Truly a haunting song. Haunting in that it stays with you. I picture of what I hope my passing will be like.
The only time I've had wind blow right through me was in a dream/ vision... in which I had just arrived to Heaven and was greeted by a couple old men in white before I felt this light wind (Holy Spirit) pass right through my torso. It was the first of about a dozen dreams... all etched into my soul... unforgettable. I suppose most people do indeed die before having such an experience. I look forward to Stephen Hawking finding out this reality... he doesn't believe Heaven exists.
i love the allan parson projects so much...i have all of their albums
For my father & mother who left us physically but not in spirit. one day we'll be together again and will never ever be far away from each other.we missed you very much. thanks for everything.Love you will all my thoughts and my heart.
The last time I spoke with my father on the phone, they played this song on the radio and he passed away a couple of hours later. Each time I hear it makes me think he's saying goodbye to me.
So glad so many other people love my favourite Colin Blunstone track which is to be played at my funeral but only if "Keith" plays the instrumental solo at the end !!!
Nothing short of perfection...
Great music (symphony and sax), but the lyrics are devoid of all religious spirituality. Don't even know what the message is. And why should someone's merit "up there" depend on whether people remember you down here? Know that merit depends not on others but on one owns good deeds, did he/she deal fairly in business, did you look forward to the final salvation, and did you have good thoughts about others. No room here to expound...
life is such a big school and experiences is what we learn....our classmates are our books and the very same materials and tools for learning getting wise doesnt happen overnight as we grow old with vast of experiences that we've had in life we grow wise too. wise in the way that no matter how cruel unfair others were, we should learn not to hate them and set wrath on them.. experiences and failure to deal with it made them cruel...because like you and me all of us were just victims of circumstances..once we realize this as we grow older thats the time we grow wise...it is wise to fill our heart with love and forgiveness.. before the final curtain fall before our eyes....
uluyamakamp unutma unutturma
when we are old and wise
remember you were all friends of mine
this song always inside my heart so touch if listen i love u
I heard this song for the first time the other day at our friend's funeral. It is , indeed, beautiful and I'm not surprised many people also want it played on that occasion.
I also heard this song for the first time a few days ago at the funeral of my friend Chris. The words are very beautiful and its very moving that he should leave us with this song and these words.
Danke für die Seite. Hab dieses Lied von der Kassete gehört und hier die Information gefunden.
Great song!!!!
to those I left behind
I wanted you to Know
You've always shared my deepest thoughts
You follow where I go
Probably one of the greatest songs of all times in my opinion. It speaks of the human condition, of how we would like the world to view us when we are gone. We would want people to say that they knew us and were a friend. So much has been written regarding this song on so many other pages. It is simply beautiful and beautifully sung by Colin...
This song is my favourite of Alan Parsosns , when I heard that I feel myself confort and safe,
this is WOW song from APP
My father passed away last January. He knew he was going to die, but kept it from us, including my mom so we could share good memories of the last few months with him. My mom said that the months prior he would play this song over and over again and told her that when he dies, when ever it may be, he wants this song played at his funeral. We played it and I cry when I hear it. Beautiful song. My father gave me the joy of music.
I actualy found this song watching Zo in sung movie dirty carnival... WOW...never knew a song could touch me deep.... to my forever friendz... luv u:)
Great song.....
Having a few regrets on your death bed, eh? Sorry mate, but it's too bloody late if you ask me.
What you do here and now is what really matters, and wining about the person you should or shouldn't have been and the things you should have done/said or not a lifetime ago is utterly pointless.
Just try and be the best you can be in every moment of the limited amount of time that is your life and you will be fine!
Which very well just might be the main point of the song...
