Midnight Rider Lyrics
Artist: The Allman Brothers Band
Album: Beginnings
Well, I've got to run to keep from hiding,
And I'm bound to keep on riding.
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no,
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing,
And the road goes on forever,
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
And I've gone by the point of caring,
Some old bed I'll soon be sharing,
And I've got one more silver dollar,
Repeat three times and Fade
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let them catch the Midnight Rider.

Comments/Interpretations
That's music that transends race, religion, and other human barriers, and touchs the soul in a way music today rarely, if at all does.
Still the greatest band ever, bar none. I know how the Deadheads must've felt, but I followed the Allmans from when they were the Allman Joys playing top 40 at YMCA dances on Thusday nights & frat parties or bars Fridays & Satudays Always: if you helped them load in you got all the beer you could drink and keep totin' plus seeing the show for free. If you helped them load out afterwards you got to snort this unknown white powder that Red Dog & all the roadies dispensed from these little gold Coca-Cola bottles they all wore on a necklace. Glad I never got used to thst stuff because they're still worth walking through a crowd using my walking stick to see them whenever they come within a day's drive.
When I want to hear good blues the Allman brothers band is the blues I go to. Been a fan and supporter since 1969. Awesome musicians.
Rest in Peace Gregg, gonna miss ya' dude
