With a Little Help From My Friends Lyrics

Artist: The Beatles
Album: With a Little Help From My Friends

A little help from my friends
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
I get by with a little help from my friends,
I get high with a little help from my friends,
Going to try with a little help from my friends.
What do I do when my love is away.
(Does it worry you to be alone)
How do I feel by the end of the day
(Are you sad because you're on your own)
No I get by with a little help from my friends,
Do you need anybody,
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love.
Would you believe in a love at first sight,
Yes I'm certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see when you turn out the light,
I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Do you need anybody,
I just need somebody to love,
Could it be anybody,
I want somebody to love.
I get by with a little help from my friends,
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends,
With a little help from my friends.

Can we be honest for a minute? We all know the hippies have romanticized The Beatles and the sixties in general. The Beatles have a very limited number of good songs. Lyrically they are far from the best. The sixties were filled with drug addicts and dirty hippies that thought it was cool to NOT shower. Older generations always exaggerate the impact of their generation. So grow up and admit that The Beatles are really just a myth that has been forced down our throats by the media and in school by hippie teachers. Sorry to break everyone's heart, but it's time to get real!

This is a fabulous song by the beatles which always cheers me up when i'm down !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by Love is all you need on 6/23/2008 12:15pm
To be quite frank, if you actually think you are right in saying that then you know nothing about the 60's.
by River Rat on 7/14/2008 4:04pm
To No To Beatles: I lived that era and didn't know anyone who "thought it was cool to NOT shower". Your remarks show your ignorance. You shouldn't speak about that which you know not. And what, exactly, is this myth of which you speak?

To No To Beatles: sos la persona mas ingnorante del mundo entero sabelo!
"Sorry to break everyone's heart, but it's time to get real!" reality shows that you are an idiot
by yes to beatles on 11/17/2008 6:14pm
No to Beatles, you know nothing of the sixties or of music for that matter...tard
by Jeff on 11/19/2008 9:49am
As a musicion I can be honest for more than one minute, I was born in the sixtys so I have little memory of the decade other than the music left behind by them. The Beatles were very talented and have left there mark in many ways on alot of us. McCartney and Lennon were true talent. And I have to agree.....Tard!!
by Holly on 1/4/2009 7:41pm
To No to Beatles, how can the Beatles be a myth if they clearly were a real band? Next time do some research.
by John on 2/2/2009 9:04pm
Yes the 60's and the 70's were the drug decades and you can associate most of their songs with drugs and peace potsmoking hippies, but you have to ignore those parts and look at their love and friend ship songs which I think is what should be highlighted area in the Beatles career. Rock on Beetles.
p.s. But come on Mcarthy your kind of pushing it!( a little over the hill)
by Mtarboy on 2/2/2009 9:19pm
The only bad thing in the sixties was the Vietnam War and the many STD's but, The Beatles are rock legends. NO TO BEATLES I have to agree about hippie teachers brainwashing us with their opinions, but you don't have to like ALL OF THE BEATLE'S SONGS! I am ashamed of my generation and the songs they listen to (rap, hip hop, punk it's all the same). People of the "old" era keep strong classic rock must never die. Rock on Mcartney, Ringo, Lennon and Harrison, forever more.

p.s. Ringo was the best narrarator for Thomas the Tank Engine!
by Allison on 3/22/2009 10:36pm
I did not live in that era, but I see River Rat's point, there is no myth and you are extemely ignorant in the areas in which you know not much of, I will not pretend to be an expert on the sixties, but both my parents lived then and so did their siblings and friends, and they didn't know anyone who didn't like to shower, so obviously you need to rethink your false suggestions.

Up yours ignorant retard. I would say something more intelligent, but everything that needed to be said has. So, don't be such a moron next time.
by billy joel on 12/1/2009 5:41pm
ok you obviously have mental issues (no offnese to anybody who does or anything) but really come on "a limited number of good songs" you have no taste and are cleary ignorant to what the beatles have revolutionized in their songs half the pop singers nowadyas are jacking songs or knockoffs of the beatles.
by Bass Player on 4/8/2010 11:38am
"No To Beatles" is obviously a simple narrow minded opinionated empty can. Even if you don't like something or someone take a look and you will find some good somewhere. If you play an instrument, which I doubt if you do since that requires effort, you would understand how complex some of the later recordings actually are.

I disagree with No to beatles
by NO TO BEATLES SUCKS ASS on 5/10/2010 9:21am
no to beatles has to be the most ignorant dumb ass ever!!! One 60's were the time of love and peace!!! which may have only been achived by drugs but at least it was achieved!! All of the beatles songs are amazing and most of them have to do with peace love no war! So i say taht your opipnion doesnt matter and for this statement you have no friends and you probably smell funnny

The beatles Rule and all you haters out there dont know what your missing!
by Have some respect on 6/5/2010 4:50pm
Hey 'no to the beatles'... if you don't like their music, don't listen to it. The Beatles didn't get the admiration and reputation they have out of no one liking them. If you were displaying your talent, I personally and most of the people here, would extend to you the same respect and courtesy.
by 108 beads on 6/6/2010 11:06am
"No to the Beatles" obviously has no friends to help him get by..too sad.

I love this song and those Lyrics were defiantly what i was looking for. I will be using the website again. And the Beatles rock so shut up you haters

Actually, No to Beatles makes some good points. Older generations DO exaggerate their influence/importance. And the fact that the Beatles are held in such high regard by so many would only be used as evidence of their greatness by people who cant think, ie most people. Individuals in crowds lose their individualism and take on the identity of the crowd. I dont think Im saying anything new or earth-shattering here. The "hippie" generation is one big crowd no matter how much they try to convince themselves that they are individuals. One big monolithic crowd... do you really think they all independently decided that the Beatles were great? Yeah, just like they all eventually decided en masse that suburbia was actually a-ok and SUV's were swell. This group is the biggest crowd-following joke of all time... very ironic since they seem to believe so passionately in their individualism.

...to know just how good -or not- the beatles were in their times, is something that can only be understood by listening the music before the Beatles.

Then from and after the Beatles.
Then, trying to imagine how it would have been the music after the beatles, without them.

In my opinion, it just wouldnt exist modern music (as its understood as a whole of rythm, armony and timing).

We tend to think "good" music is the music we "like". But that´s not true obviously. Others think "good" music must be complex, because that´s "difficult". Not true.

The real "good" music, is the new music that changes the way in which musical people thinks the world.

Music and song, are different but related things

Hope I just helped someone out there to enjoy any music, in a different way, from today.

No To the Beatles:
You have a very ignorant and narrow minded view of the sixties! Not everyone was a fucking drugie! Hippies were not "all" dirty freaks and it was not the "greatest" generation but to be frank no generation is!!

As for the Beatles
I am huge fan of the Beatles
but I will say they are indeed drastically overrated at times
(though not so much as the Rolling Stones) I say everyone like what they like in music. You don't have to like the Beatles BUT you should at least have respect for their impact on music.(opposed to the Stones who though often labeled "The Greatest Rockband in the World" had no where near the impact on music)
by Chris Fierco on 4/29/2011 4:02pm
To the previous comment... are you insane? The beatles helped make music what it is today, they are not over rated in any sense. Lyrically they are among the best. Just because you do not understand the music or you can not grasp it, dont not give credit where it is due. Without the beatles you would not have most of the talented artists that are out today. They helped music evolve and their music is still loved by many generations... I am a 22 year old song writer.. and a lot of my inspiration comes from listening to many bands from all eras. The beatles were very talented and musically inclined, every one of them had a good singing voice and ability to write their own music, if only you could be so creative. You have to appreciate music of all types if you are a lover of music.

I think the Beatles have a very limited number of bad songs. Most of their music I love and listen with joy in my heart.
The negative people I feel sorry for.
Music is what soothes my soul.

I'm singing this song in my performance at school !!!! luv it! btw, don't say bad things about me. i don't like negative vibes, and my dad could take you to court. (he's a lawyer for Katten) he sits in the board. why am i talking about my dad? la la la !
by school dog on 6/20/2012 7:04am
It seems to be singing about Ringo Starr. At purposes is he singing and I heard that they made a song with simple harmony for his voice. Probably the song tells about things that were worring Ringo at that times, just like love, moments of sadness, staying distance from home in the band tours.

by Dirty hippy on 6/17/2013 7:17am
The Beatles are clearly a myth. I lived through the sixties. They never existed. Where is your evidence? All those old songs were written by the Earl of Oxford. They are far too sophisticated to have been written by four hairy boys from Liverpool.
