Reminiscing Lyrics

Reminiscing
The Little River Band
(Graham Goble)
Friday night, it was late, I was walking you home
We got down to the gate and I was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right
How to tell you girl
I wanna build my world around you
Tell you that it's true
I wanna make you understand I'm talkin' about a lifetime plan
That's the way it began, we were hand in hand
Glenn Miller's Band was better than before
We yelled and screamed for more
And the Porter tunes (Night and Day)
Made us dance across the room
It ended all too soon
And on the way back home I promised you'd never be alone
Hurry, don't be late, I can hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park and reminiscing
(Instrumental break)
Friday night, it was late, I was walking you home
We got down to the gate and I was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right
Now as the years roll on
Each time we hear our favorite song
The memories come along
Older times we're missing
Spending the hours reminiscing
Hurry, don't be late, I can hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park and reminiscing

Comments/Interpretations
This is my fvorite song
One of the finest written and technically executed songs of all time.
I love songs that evoke nostalgia!
Beautiful, stunning, perfect
LRB was so amazing, unbelievable vocals..
one of my favorites...maybe THE
Just hearing this song all the memories come along
my favorite band, song for all season....
Excelente canción, se congeló en el tiempo definitivamente.
A favorite song from a favorite group. Amazing the number of hits this band produced!!
This song sucks major dick
Georgy Porgy, have a little respect!!! please!!!
what is the name of the other song about reminiscing
that was popular about the same time? "reminiscing and it flet so good....reminiscing and you know you should!"
that was "reunited" .... reunited and it feels so good
OMG. I love this song. It takes me back. Dont think it was ever a hit in Great Britain but I remember Dave Lee Travis used to give it some airplay on radio one back in the day. One of my favourite songs for sure.
Glen Frey of The Eagles once said "this is the best singing band in the world " and this song proves it
Pure CLASS!
I just sang it out loud to my dog. Think i scared him!! ha ha I loved that song in the 70's!!
i love this song. i am reminiscing of my past with this song
that song is a masterpiece i can tell that and i'm 13 one of the best songs ever written
Gorgy Porgy obviously doesn't have any positive romantic memories. Huh. I love this song. I always dance with my wife when it comes on at a wedding. It was our song when we got married. How's that for reminiscing?
This and a couple other songs are the first ones I can recall ever hearing. Another was ... funny, I can't recall them right now. :) They'll come back.
Anyway, this song always seemed to evoke an incredible feeling of nostaligia in me despite the fact that none of the experiences described in it can I even remotely relate to my life. I mean, hell, I am only 41, and my mrs. and I did not get together in any way shape or form as described in the song. Glenn Miller? Wouldn't know him if I met him on the street. Yet even at a very young age, this song had this effect. The musical style generally does not appeal to me at all. And yet....
Reincarnation? This kind of thing makes me believe that the Hindus got that right.
John "the Voice" Farnham's haunting voice, the great guitar work and great background vocals harmony make this a true and timeless classic
its the best, nothing compares
There is a great john farnham version on youtube. LIve in melbourne. Just love his version. But there is something about the simplicity Glenn Shorrock brings to it!
suspended in the air just to hear it, brings the smell of dusk at night, walking in a park forever lost in the past milennia.
Love the song and the lyrics.
"I wanna build my world around you"
I wanna make you understand I'm talkin about a lifetime plan.
Great LRB.....still Reminiscing
Good Valentines song guys... i'm just saying!
This was my fiance and my song in the summer of 78. She was killed in a plane crash that September. I'll never forget her or this song.. Peace
Hey Georgy Porgy if you look like your name I bet you couldn't sing a single note of this song right. Sniff dirt you pillock!!!
Daniel- tragic mate....i cant imagine your pain. But what a fantastic song to remember your love by. john lennon himself rated this as the greatest song he'd heard.
I agree. This song is a masterpiece.
The vocals are by Glen Sherrock. John Farnham joined the band later. I can honestly say that Farnham's version from 1983 (youtube) blew me away. John Farnham is unknown in the U.S so it was the first time Id had the pleasure of hearing him
One of the greatest songs ever written and performed.
i listen to this song every night b4 i go to sleep.. very nice song
your lyrics are off. It goes like this..."and Cole Porter's tune, Night and Day, made us dance...
Glen Shorrock is the best voice Australia has ever produced. Full stop.
Love love love this song. I just ordered the CD from Amazon of LRB's Greatest Hits. Can't wait to crank it in the car.
love love love the vocals
.....what is there to say about this song except - perfection
....it is one of those songs you take a drive for just to play it in repeat and sing along
.....this song evokes the romantic memories we've all(in some way or another)had or will hopefully have... - perfection
this song brought back great memories. saw the band played a few weeks back in norfolk, connecticut
This song makes me wanna make out wit my man. Therefore, it is gay.
LRB is amazing! love to lestin to this song while driving my cab along boulevard highway!
Bad Azz Song...Smooth!
Could listen to this all day.
I never could understand the Glenn Miller reference. Glenn Miller died during WWII. How could these people from 1978 be dancing to Glenn Miller's band? The style of the song has nothing to do with Glenn Miller's style.
one of my favorite song.
I always took the Glenn Miller reference as though the songwriter was writing from the perspective of someone older (parents?). The reminiscing (taking place in the mid-1970s) is about the big band era of the 1930s. And by the way, Porter's Night and Day is an awesome song too. (I'm partial to Sinatra's version).
ACK!!!
Sounds like he is singing about his parents as he makes the Glen Miller reference. Great song!
it's really a nice song & it reminds me a lot. memories from the past.
Takes me right back to the late 70's - was such a nice change from horrible, horrible disco!
I'm reminiscing
I listened to this beautiful melody for the first time in the early 80s while traveling through Texas, and got absolutely trapped by it. Ever since that time, I have been one of the most fervient admirers of this remarkable band and have collected most of their albums (have you all also heard "Light Of Day?" Just divine!) . This is REAL MUSIC, not like today's, so decadent and insustantial. Thank you for reading this.
I always liked this song, but I had trouble understanding the words "Glen Millers band" I kept thinking I was hearing "Ben Miller or Ben Willer" I am glad to say that your website solved the mystery. Thank you
its the best, great lrb.....
back in the day love this song soooooo much
this one brings to me a wonderful moments in my childhood when the people had soul and was more natural
...And KTLA proudly presents, The Family Film Festival, with your host, Tom Hatten.
This is a song that brings wonderful memories of my youth and young love. Time is so precious! If I only knew then what I know now, how different would the world be?
