Live Like You Were Dying Lyrics

Artist: Tim McGraw

He said I was in my early forties
with a lot of life before me
when a moment came that stopped me on a dime
and I spent most of the next days
looking at the x-rays
Talking bout the options
and talking bout sweet time
I asked him when it sank in
that this might really be the real end
how's it hit you when you get that kinda news
man what'd you do

and he said
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

He said I was finally the husband
that most the time I wasn't
and I became a friend a friend would like to have
and all the sudden going fishin
wasn't such an imposition
and I went three times that year I lost my dad
well I finally read the good book
and I took a good long hard look
at what I'd do if I could do it all again

and then
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about
what'd you do with it what did you do with it
what did I do with it
what would I do with it'

Sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu
and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I watched an eagle as it was flying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying

I thought the lyrics were "and I love beaver - and I..." but on this they're "and I loved deeper...". I'm not sure which is right?

Omigosh! It is a awesome song to live by... seriously what would I do with it... wow thats a tough question that I think we should all think about! I would tell my siblings and parents that I really do love them and actually give them a hug... I would love my friends to death... and try my hardest at every volleyball game I have! wow live like you were dying!

Wow! I had heard the song many, many times but never really listened to it. However, as I was driving home today it started playing on the radio. As I listened to it I realized that this is exactly my story with my mother (or vice versa). It is extremely funny though because my mother is in ICU recovering from a colostomy that had to be done due to rectal cancer. Te amo Mama. Se que eres una luchadora.

I hardly listen to country music, so my instinct was to change the station when this song came on...but I've never been sky diving or Rocky Mountain climbing. This song changed a part of my life! We must live everyday like it's the last day: no regrets, forgiveness, love deep and for goodness sake have some fun!!!!

Having had that talk with my doctor, I can assure you that I have lived more since then. Don't know how much time I have left, but I am having a great time. I laugh more, ride more, travel more and enjoy myself more! i knew from the outset there is no need to have a negative attitude, it isn't going to change anything. Enjoy while you can.

My husband of one year in November was given 1-2 months if he didn't have a tumor removed and if he did, still only less than a year prognosis. He always appreciated life, and now its even more beautiful. I remembered this song and played it for him.
